Altered autonomic cardiac control in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Role of outflow tract obstruction and myocardial hypertrophy.
The goal of this study was to investigate the role of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction and myocardial hypertrophy on autonomic cardiac function in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. ⋯ Among patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, only those with outflow tract obstruction show spectral signs of altered autonomic cardiac control. Within this group, the autonomic dysfunction appears to be correlated to myocardial hypertrophy rather than to left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.
