How to avoid gifts from your patients after the Christmas holidays?
Receiving gifts from patients could generate an ethical dilemma for physicians and refusing a present may be perceived as an offence. ⋯ After analysing the factors that increase the risk of receiving a gift from a patient, we have surmised the following advice for physicians who do not wish to find themselves in the midst of an ethical dilemma. They should avoid staying in the same service for more than 5 years, try to adopt the MBTI personality type "Analyst" and be on time in their consultations.

The CARMEN-France registry of adult patients with immune thrombocytopenia and autoimmune hemolytic anemia in France.
The CARMEN-France registry is a prospective, multicenter registry in France including adult patients with a new diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenia or of autoimmune immune hemolytic anemia (2402 patients included in December 31, 2023). The recording of clinical, biological and treatment data allows detailed epidemiological and pharmacoepidemiological real-world studies. This review summarizes the CARMEN-France registry protocol, gives examples of studies conducted in the registry, and indicates future directions such as inclusion of patient reported outcomes, linkage with the French national health insurance database and linkage with other registries in Europe.

[Hospitalization for infection in patients treated for giant cell arteritis: A single-centre retrospective study].
Infections are associated with morbimortality of patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA). The aim of this work was twofold: the identification of factors predisposing to the risk of infection and the description of patients hospitalized with an infection occurring during the treatment period of CAG. ⋯ Factors associated with infectious risk were identified. This preliminary monocentric work will continue with a national multicentre study.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe complication of connective tissue disease (CTD). Data on use of prostanoids in this particular subset of patients are lacking. We aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with PAH-CTD treated with prostanoids and the outcomes under treatment. ⋯ This study provides original data on use of prostanoids in a cohort consisting mainly of systemic sclerosis. It underlines the difficulty to achieve a standardized assessment in this subset of patients. Safety profile was comparable with data reported in idiopathic PAH.

Are script concordance tests suitable for the assessment of undergraduate students? A multicenter comparative study.
Script concordance tests (SCTs) have been developed to assess clinical reasoning in uncertain situations. Their reliability for the evaluation of undergraduate medical students has not been evaluated. ⋯ The use of SCTs is a feasible option for the evaluation of undergraduate students. The SCT scores correlated with those obtained on classical MCQ tests.
