We aimed to investigate whether the lesion-to-background ratio (LBR) of the whole spinal column in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients based on baseline F-18-fluoride positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is associated with treatment response. ⋯ In patients with AS, the LBR of posterior joints of the spinal column on baseline PET/CT could be considered one of the potential surrogate markers for predicting treatment response.

Accurate prediction of post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is important in advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to retrospectively evaluate the utility of gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI for predicting PHLF in patients who underwent anatomic hepatectomy for HCC with portal vein invasion. ⋯ Gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI can be a promising noninvasive examination for assessing global and regional liver function, allowing estimation of the functional liver remnant and accurate prediction of severe PHLF before hepatic resection.

To determine the feasibility of whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging (WB-DWI) MRI for evaluation of response in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) following bortezomib-based therapy and to explore the direction of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) changes upon treatment. ⋯ The ADCmean value was significantly decreased in MM patients with diffuse pattern, while it was significantly increased in those with focal pattern following bortezomib-based treatment. WB-DWI MRI could be used to discriminate deep response to induction treatment in MM patients with diffuse infiltration pattern. Baseline ADCmean value might have a potential to predict the trend of ADCmean change following treatment.

Tumor consistency is a critical factor in surgical planning that influences ease of resection and risk of operative morbidity. The ability of MRI to predict tumor consistency tumor consistency has been shown to increase with higher field strength. The present study examined the utility of 7 T (7 T) MRI in predicting the tumor consistency of pituitary adenomas. ⋯ The signal and contrast advantage conferred by 7 T MRI may provide valuable preoperative information regarding pituitary tumor consistency and physiology. The use of granular, voxel-based analysis maximizes the potential afforded by the high resolution of 7 T imaging, and may be a valuable method of predicting consistency of pituitary adenoma.

MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging to predict feasibility of complete cytoreduction with the peritoneal cancer index (PCI) in advanced stage ovarian cancer patients.
To determine the diagnostic performance of MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging (DW-MRI) in assessing the peritoneal tumor load and predicting whether a complete cytoreduction can be achieved in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). ⋯ DW-MRI is accurate in predicting the S-PCI and can be helpful to predict whether a complete resection in ovarian cancer patients is feasible.
