Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Obstetric analgesia: peridural analgesia versus combined spinal and peridural analgesia].
To compare the analgesic efficiency, side effects and obstetrical repercussions of epidural analgesia (EP) and combined spinal-epidural analgesia (CSE). ⋯ In the early phase of labour, the CSE technique using intrathecal sufentanil has no significant benefit when compared to the EP technique using bupivacaine and sufentanil. In the CSE group, technical incidents were more frequent and the length of the first stage of labour was increased.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Phare study. Comparative study of combined cefepime-amikacin versus ceftazidime combined with amikacin in the treatment of nosocomial pneumonias in ventilated patients. Multicenter group study].
To compare the associations of cefepime (2 g x 2/day) + amikacin (7.5 mg.kg-1 x 2/day) (= cefe-ami) and ceftazidime (2 g x 3/day) + amikacin (7.5 mg.kg-1 x 2/day) (= cefta-ami) in patients under mechanical ventilation suffering from a nosocomial pneumonia. ⋯ The efficacy rates of cefe-ami and cefta-ami combinations were similar in ICU patients under mechanical ventilation with a nosocomial pneumonia. However the cefe-ami association was significantly more efficient in the population with a bacteriologically documented pneumonia.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Analgesia using continuous axillary block after surgery of severe hand injuries: self-administration versus continuous injection].
To compare analgesia produced after surgery for severe hand trauma, by a continuous axillary block obtained either with a continuous injection (CA) or controlled by the patient (PCA). ⋯ Continuous axillary plexus blockade provides safe and effective postoperative analgesia. With the PCA technique results a lower quantity of bupivacaine is required and patient's satisfaction better.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial-The effect of ondansetron on intracranial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure in neurosurgical patients-.
To determine the effect of ondansetron on intracranial pressure (ICP), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP). ⋯ Intravenous administration of 8 mg ondansetron affects neither cerebral hemodynamics nor ICP.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Comparative hemodynamic effects of sevoflurane and halothane at tele-expiratory concentration in intubation of infants].
To compare the cardiovascular changes at the end-tidal concentrations of sevoflurane versus halothane required for tracheal intubation in infants (intubation MAC). ⋯ Sevoflurane decreases cardiac output less than halothane in infants at the intubation MAC, due to a lower end-tidal concentration at intubation MAC and to less effects on haemodynamic variables.
