The purpose of this review is to draw up a statement on current knowledge available on perioperative management of Parkinson's disease patients. ⋯ In France, approximately 150,000 persons suffer from Parkinson's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder of central nervous system. Parkinson's disease results in selective and irreversible loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta. Medications based on dopaminergic drugs are used to control motor symptoms and improve motor function. Development of surgical approach, especially deep brain stimulation, has revolutionized the medical management of many patients with Parkinson's disease. Anesthesia of these patients remains a challenge for the clinician. The aim of this review is to describe anaesthetic considerations of patients with Parkinson's disease and to discuss management of antiparkinsonians medications during the perioperative period.

Case Reports[Labor epidural analgesia for a woman with a pityriasis versicolor in the lumbar region].
Epidural analgesia is usually contraindicated in case of infection at the site of needle insertion. Tinea versicolor is a benign superficial cutaneous fungal infection caused by the proliferation of a skin commensal yeast of low pathogenicity. We report the case of a pregnant woman with a tinea versicolor in the lumbar region, who benefited from a labor epidural analgesia, realised with reinforced antiseptic measures. No neurological or infectious complication occurred.

Case Reports[Microcirculatory dysfunction after cardiac surgery: Interest of NIRS technology with two case reports].
Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) seems to be an interesting technology to study microcirculatory dysfunction. These alterations have been described after cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass. ⋯ These two parameters are early altered notably in case of cardiac dysfunction (decrease of StO(2) and reperfusion slope). We discuss the interest of microcirculatory measurement in this context.

Case Reports[Cervical disc hernia decompensation complicated by postoperative transitory tetraparesia about long-term haemodialysis patient].
We report a case of a 51-year-old man who underwent a third kidney transplantation that was complicated by tetraparesia due to a C5-C6 cervical disc hernia decompensation in the immediate postoperative period. Preoperative consultation for long-term haemodialysis patients could be perfected by further neurological investigation and additional imagery.

[Measure of preoperative anxiety and need for information with six issues].
A questionnaire for self-assessment, the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) translated into French has been compared to a background questionnaire to validate their use as screening tool and assessment of anxiety and information needs of patients. ⋯ APAIS, in its French version, assesses anxiety and information needs of patients. This questionnaire has metrological capabilities and ease of execution that make it a screening tool for use in anesthesia consultation. A score above 10 out of 20 reflects a high level of anxiety.
