Randomized Controlled Trial[Anxiety: an independent factor of axillary brachial plexus block failure?].
To evaluate the impact of the anxiety level using Spielberger test on axillary block success. ⋯ Patient's anxiety level before axillary brachial plexus block is a risk factor of failure, especially in emergency condition. We suggest anesthesiologists to evaluate patient anxiety prior to block performance. A specific anxiolytic treatment may be recommend in some cases.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Continuous epidural block versus continuous psoas compartment block for postoperative analgesia after major hip or femoral surgery in children: a prospective comparative randomized study].
Intravenous opioids and/or continuous epidural block (CEB) are used for postoperative analgesia after hip and/or femoral shaft surgery but adverse effects limit their use in children. A continuous psoas compartment block (CPCB), effective technique in adults can be an alternative. In this randomized comparative study, we wanted to evaluate CEB and CPCB in children after major hip surgery in terms of adverse events, pain relief and ropivacaine plasma concentrations. ⋯ Continuous psoas compartment block is an effective technique of postoperative analgesia after major hip or femoral surgery in children. It equally manages postoperative pain with significantly less adverse event and decreased ropivacaine doses and plasma concentration than CEB.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[A prospective randomized comparison of nebulized morphine versus thoracic epidural analgesia in the management of thoracic trauma].
Successful management of pain reduces morbidity and improves patient satisfaction of patient after a chest trauma. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of the respiratory administration of nebulized morphine in such patients. ⋯ Nebulized morphine was an analgesic technique as effective as epidural bupivacaine-fentanyl in our series. This non-invasive route of administration of morphine appears to be useful to treat pain after a chest trauma.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Performance of the glottiscopes: a randomized comparative study on difficult intubation simulation manikin].
We have prospectively compared simulated-difficult tracheal intubation characteristics of four glottiscopes: Airtraq, GlideScope, McGrath, LMA CTrach with that of the conventional Macintosh laryngoscope. ⋯ When difficult airway was simulated on the manikin, the four glottiscopes were superior to the Macintosh laryngoscope to improve laryngeal exposure quality and to reduce duration of tracheal intubation. Airtraq and the LMA CTrach both demonstrated remarkable advantage over GlideScope and McGrath for simulated difficult intubation management.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Efficiency of bupivacaine wound subfasciale infiltration in reduction of postoperative pain after inguinal hernia surgery].
The reduction of postoperative pain after surgery of inguinal hernia is an objective of lot of studies. The subfasciale infiltration of the wound may be an efficient technique. ⋯ Wound infiltration is still a simple and efficient technique in postoperative pain reduction. With this technique, hernia surgery may become ambulatory.
