Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Association between anatomical resolution and functional outcomes in the mivi-trust studies using ocriplasmin to treat symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion/vitreomacular traction, including when associated with macular hole.
To evaluate visual function in patients with symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion (VMA)/vitreomacular traction including when associated with macular hole after ocriplasmin treatment, and the association between resolution of the underlying condition and improvement in visual function. ⋯ In patients with symptomatic VMA/vitreomacular traction, VMA resolution and nonsurgical full-thickness macular hole closure were each associated with improvements in visual function. Resolving the underlying anatomical condition in symptomatic VMA/vitreomacular traction will increase the probability of achieving a clinically meaningful improvement in visual function.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Safety profile of ocriplasmin for the pharmacologic treatment of symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion/traction.
To report the safety of intravitreal ocriplasmin injection based on 2 Phase 3 clinical trials in patients with symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion/vitreomacular traction, including when associated with full-thickness macular holes. ⋯ Intravitreal ocriplasmin injection provides a generally well-tolerated pharmacologic treatment option for patients with symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion/vitreomacular traction, including when associated with full-thickness macular holes ≤400 µm in diameter.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Randomized trial evaluating short-term effects of intravitreal ranibizumab or triamcinolone acetonide on macular edema after focal/grid laser for diabetic macular edema in eyes also receiving panretinal photocoagulation.
To evaluate 14-week effects of intravitreal ranibizumab or triamcinolone in eyes receiving focal/grid laser for diabetic macular edema and panretinal photocoagulation. ⋯ The addition of 1 intravitreal triamcinolone injection or 2 intravitreal ranibizumab injections in eyes receiving focal/grid laser for diabetic macular edema and panretinal photocoagulation is associated with better visual acuity and decreased macular edema by 14 weeks. Whether continued long-term intravitreal treatment is beneficial cannot be determined from this study.

Complications of ganciclovir implant surgery in patients with cytomegalovirus retinitis: the Ganciclovir Cidofovir Cytomegalovirus Retinitis Trial.
To describe the complications of ganciclovir implant surgery in patients with cytomegalovirus retinitis. ⋯ Ganciclovir implant surgery in patients with AIDS and cytomegalovirus retinitis was associated with a low risk of serious complications in the first 60 days after surgery. Vitreous hemorrhage was the most commonly observed complication and resolved in all cases.

Topical anesthesia in posterior vitrectomy.
To evaluate the efficacy of topical anesthesia as an alternative to peribulbar or retrobulbar anesthesia in posterior vitrectomy procedures. ⋯ This technique avoids the risk of globe perforation, retrobulbar hemorrhage, and prolonged postoperative akinesia of the eye. With appropriate case selection, topical anesthesia is a safe and effective alternative to peribulbar or retrobulbar anesthesia in three-port pars plana vitrectomy procedures.
