CPR feedback/prompt device improves the quality of hands-only CPR performed in manikin by laypersons following the 2015 AHA guidelines.
We investigated the effects of a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) feedback/prompt device on the quality of chest compression (CC) during hands-only CPR following the 2015 AHA guidelines. ⋯ It is difficult for a large percentage of laypersons to achieve the targets of CC depth and rate following the 2015 AHA guidelines. CPR feedback/prompt devices significantly improve the quality of hands-only CPR performance by laypersons following the standards of the 2015 AHA guidelines.

Although systemic infections originating from skin infections caused by insect bites are uncommon, it is imperative to maintain a broad differential diagnosis should patients develop systemic symptoms. Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare diagnosis, and progression to septic pulmonary emboli is even less common. Emergent identification and aggressive treatment of these two disease processes are imperative as both carry high rates of morbidity and mortality.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious and potentially life-threatening acute complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2(SGLT-2) inhibitors are new orally administered antihyperglycemic agents. These agents are related with rarely seen euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (eDKA) cases, which are difficult to diagnose in emergency department (ED) because of absence of an evident hyperglycemia and may result with potentially dangerous outcomes if missed. In this study, we present a clinical case of a patient, admitted to ED with altered mental status after SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin administration.

Multicenter Study
Intubations in elderly patients have decreased from 1999 through 2014-Results of a multi-center cohort study.
Advances in pharmacologic therapy, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) and advanced directives may have decreased the intubations of dyspneic elderly (≥65years old) patients in the emergency department (ED). ⋯ Intubation rates for patients≥65 decreased from 1999 through 2014, particularly in CHF patients. We speculate that these findings reflect wider implementation of NIPPV, other therapeutic modalities and advanced directives.

Tracheal rupture is mostly traumatic or iatrogenic. A few cases of spontaneous tracheal rupture have been reported in literatüre and all of them have been described posterior membraneous wall which is the weakest portion of trachea. In most of such cases, predisposing factors that weaken the tracheal structure were present. ⋯ The patient with a foriegn nationality left the emergency at his own will. He was contacted one month later via telephone. The patient said that his neck pain subsided and had no other complaints.
