In the course of digitalization the smartphone is penetrating more and more areas of life giving the user mobile and almost ubiquitous access to the internet and other web applications. The advantages of mHealth are an integral part in some areas of patient care but in contrast to other disciplines, routine integration of mobile devices into orthopedics and trauma surgery is still in its infancy. ⋯ In summary, the number of regularly used apps is low; however, the causes of this lack of acceptance have not yet been conclusively clarified. The authors of this study proclaim a significant increase in the use of mHealth and mobile devices in daily clinical practice in the future.

[Bilateral well-leg compartment syndrome in a child after abdominal trauma : A review of the literature and treatment recommendations illustrated by a case study].
This article reports a case of a bilateral well leg compartment syndrome (WLCS) in a 9-year-old girl who presented to the emergency room 24 h after blunt abdominal trauma and liver laceration. The abdomen was already packed on presentation. ⋯ In an analysis of literature only five cases of WLCS after surgery in a supine position were found. The young age of the patient and the intra-abdominal packing were identified as risk factors for increased intra-abdominal pressure and reperfusion was suspected to be the cause of the lower leg compartment syndrome.

Digital exchange of images and diagnostic findings has become more and more popular in German hospitals in recent years. Solutions such as the TKmed telecooperation platform, which was developed on behalf of the German Trauma Society (DGU), have meanwhile also become established in the clinical routine of trauma surgery and can be very useful in cases of emergency relocation, for requesting second opinions, in questions with respect to the severely injured type procedure (SAV) and other applications. A fast, secure and privacy-conform exchange of treatment and imaging data can be beneficial, particularly in the care of severely injured patients. This article provides an overview of the development and use of teleradiology tools in trauma networks across Germany.

The results of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction demonstrate excellent short and mid-term results; however, long-term follow-up results are compromized by high rates of osteoarthritis. Dynamic intraligamentary stabilization (DIS) focuses on preserving the cruciate ligament. The short and mid-term results of the dynamic ligamentary cruciate ligament suture from a nondevelopmental hospital are presented. ⋯ The dynamic intraligamentary cruciate liament suture (Ligamys) is a successful additional option in the sugical treatment of acute femoral ACL rupture. A high proportion of collateral damage and injuries of the knee joint can be detected and simultaneously treated.
