Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Survival outcome and perioperative complication related to neoadjuvant chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel for advanced ovarian cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare the effectiveness and safety of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with carboplatin/paclitaxel followed by interval debulking surgery (NACT-IDS) to primary debulking surgery plus postoperative chemotherapy (PDS) for advanced ovarian cancer. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that NACT-IDS with carboplatin and paclitaxel does not negatively impact the survival of women with advanced ovarian cancer compared to PDS, while perioperative complications and mortality are significantly reduced by 70-80%.

The benefits of adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with microvascular invasion (MVI) remain controversial. We compared the efficacy and safety of adjuvant TACE and hepatic resection (HR) alone for HCC patients with MVI. ⋯ The benefits of adjuvant TACE in HCC patients with microvascular invasion remain controversial. Twelve studies involving 2190 patients were include in our meta-analysis. Adjuvant TACE may improve OS and DFS for HCC patients with MVI compared to HR alone and should be recommended for selected HCC patients with MVI.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
The primary tumor location impacts survival outcome of colorectal liver metastases after hepatic resection: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Location of the primary tumor side has become an increasingly prognostic factor for colorectal liver metastasis. The present study was to perform a meta-analysis to investigate if primary right-sided tumor impacted on long-term survival outcome of colorectal liver metastases following local treatment. ⋯ It demonstrated that primary right-sided for colorectal liver metastases location was a significantly worse prognostic factor in terms of overall survival.

Whether sarcopenia has any impact on long-term survival of patients with surgically treated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains unclear. We conducted a meta-analysis focusing on current topic comprehensively for the first time. ⋯ Patients with sarcopenia had a significantly worse prognosis than those without after surgical resection of NSCLC especially in those at early stage. Sarcopenia is an independent unfavorable prognostic factor for patients with surgically treated NSCLC. (246 words).

In the absence of randomized trials, uncertainty regarding the oncologic efficacy of minimally invasive distal pancreatectomy (MIDP) remains. This systematic review aimed to compare oncologic outcomes after MIDP (laparoscopic or robot-assisted) and open distal pancreatectomy (ODP) in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Matched and non-matched studies were included. ⋯ Patients undergoing MIDP were more likely to have smaller tumors (WMD -0.46 cm; 95%CI -0.67 to -0.24; p < 0.001), less perineural (OR 0.48; 95%CI 0.33 to 0.70; p < 0.001) and less lymphovascular invasion (OR 0.53; 95%CI 0.38 to 0.74; p < 0.001) reflecting earlier staged disease as a result of treatment allocation bias. Based on these results we can conclude that in patients with PDAC, MIDP is associated with comparable survival, R0 resection, and use of adjuvant chemotherapy, but a lower lymph node yield, as compared to ODP. Due to treatment allocation bias and lower lymph node yield the oncologic efficacy of MIDP remains uncertain.
