Decrease and Delay in Hospitalization for Acute Coronary Syndromes During the 2020 SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic.
The diffusion of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) forced the Italian population to restrictive measures that modified patients' responses to non-SARS-CoV-2 medical conditions. We evaluated all patients with acute coronary syndromes admitted in 3 high-volume hospitals during the first month of SARS-CoV-2 Italian-outbreak and compared them with patients with ACS admitted during the same period 1 year before. ⋯ In 2020, both door-to-balloon and symptoms-to-percutaneous coronary intervention were longer, and admission levels of high-sensitive cardiac troponin I were higher. They had a lower discharged residual left-ventricular function and an increased predicted late cardiovascular mortality based on their Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) scores.

The Risk of Cardiovascular Events on Cannabis' Highest Day.
Knowledge of the acute cardiovascular effects of cannabis consumption remains largely unknown and is important given the changing landscape of legalization of recreational cannabis use. "4/20" is an annual event where many individuals gather to consume cannabis. An increased risk of adverse health events such as motor vehicle accidents has previously been reported to occur on "4/20." In this study, population-based administrative databases in Ontario, Canada, were used to evaluate the association between "4/20" and cardiovascular events. An increased risk of cardiovascular events on a population level was not observed on "4/20." Additional research into the changes in the prevalence of the use of cannabis with recreational legalization and acute and chronic risk with cannabis use is suggested.

Sex And Prognostic Significance of Self-Reported Frailty in Non-ST-Segment Elevation Acute Coronary Syndromes: Insights From the TRILOGY ACS Trial.
The effect of sex on self-reported frailty in acute coronary syndromes (ACS) is unclear. We examined the prevalence of self-reported frailty and its association with all-cause death among men and women. ⋯ Self-reported frailty was similar among men and women with ACS. Frailty increased with age only among men, in whom it added more prognostic information. Patient-reported frailty may identify elderly patients with ACS, particularly men, at high-risk of mortality.

Impact of Discharge Location After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement on 1-Year Outcomes in Women: Results From the WIN-TAVI Registry.
Several clinical and procedural factors determine outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), but data are scarce on the impact of post-TAVR discharge disposition on long-term outcomes. We sought to analyse whether discharge location after TAVR is associated with 1-year outcomes in women undergoing contemporary TAVR. ⋯ In women undergoing contemporary TAVR, discharge disposition significantly affects 1-year risk of outcomes even after adjustment for recorded baseline differences. This might suggest the necessity of considering additional factors beyond comorbidities in the TAVR decision-making process.
