The utility of bedside echocardiography in critically ill COVID-19 patients: Early observational findings from three Northern New Jersey hospitals.
Cardiovascular complications related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have led to the need for echocardiographic services during the pandemic. The present study aimed to identify the echocardiographic findings in hospitalized COVID-19 patients and their utility in disease management. ⋯ Two-dimensional echocardiography can be an important bedside tool for the assessment of cardiovascular abnormalities and hemodynamic status of COVID-19 patients.

Deep learning for predicting in-hospital mortality among heart disease patients based on echocardiography.
Heart disease (HD) is the leading cause of global death; there are several mortality prediction models of HD for identifying critically-ill patients and for guiding decision making. The existing models, however, cannot be used during initial treatment or screening. This study aimed to derive and validate an echocardiography-based mortality prediction model for HD using deep learning (DL). ⋯ This echocardiography-based deep learning model predicted in-hospital mortality among HD patients more accurately than existing prediction models and other machine learning models.

Echocardiographic characteristics in Fontan patients before the onset of protein-losing enteropathy or plastic bronchitis.
It was this study's objective to evaluate the echocardiographic characteristics and flow patterns in abdominal arteries of Fontan patients before the onset of protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) or plastic bronchitis (PB). ⋯ An elevated flow resistance in the celiac artery may prevail in Fontan patients before the clinical manifestation of PLE or PB.
