The Impact of Dynamic Real-Time Feedback on Patient Satisfaction Scores.
Providers' communication skills have a significant impact on patients' satisfaction. Improved patients' satisfaction has been positively correlated with various healthcare and financial outcomes. Patients' satisfaction in the inpatient setting is measured using the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. In this study, we evaluated the impact of dynamic real-time feedback to the providers on the HCAHPS scores. ⋯ Real-time patients' feedback to inpatient providers with peer comparison via email has a positive impact on the provider-specific HCAHPS scores.

This JGIM Perspective discusses new and emerging challenges with accessing controversial medical therapies like medical aid in dying and abortion. While some states permit these therapies for only their residents, other states prohibit these therapies for their own residents. We summarize recent developments and growing challenges for clinicians treating "medical tourism" patients from other jurisdictions.

Hospital at Home (HaH) programs have been shown to improve clinical outcomes, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. However, how Asian patients experience HaH remained underexplored. ⋯ Although HaH is unfamiliar to the Singapore population, most of the participants in this study had an overall positive experience. The key challenges found in this paper were the stress and inconvenience caused to caregivers. The enablers for positive HaH experiences were (1) consideration of patient's family members as key participants in the patients' therapeutic alliance; (2) the HaH care team must be accessible, approachable, and reassuring, and communicate frequently and timely with patients and their families; and (3) financing strategies to ensure HaH out-of-pockets costs remain affordable which are critical to keeping HaH as an option for patients and families.

Academic clinician-educators who teach health professions trainees and lead educational programs have been penalized by the mismatch between their daily contributions to the academic mission and traditional promotion criteria focused on peer-reviewed publications and external reputation. Despite two decades of incremental approaches, inconsistency and inequity persist in the promotion process for clinician-educators. ⋯ Achieving meaningful change requires transforming entrenched traditions and policies at multiple levels. Changes that advance equity are necessary to retain academic faculty members who train the next generation of health professionals.
