Efficacy and safety of bisoprolol 5 mg plus amlodipine 5 mg in patients with hypertension uncontrolled on monotherapy with 5 mg of amlodipine, a phase III multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial - the AMCOR study.
To evaluate the antihypertensive effect and safety of bisoprolol 5 mg (BISO5mg) and amlodipine 5 mg (AMLO5mg) combination in comparison to AMLO5mg in hypertensive subjects uncontrolled with AMLO5mg. ⋯ Addition of bisoprolol to patients uncontrolled with amlodipine monotherapy significantly improves blood pressure control. We can expect additional 7.2/3.95 mmHg SBP/DBP lowering effect by adding bisoprolol 5 mg to amlodipine 5 mg.

Safety and efficacy of aripiprazole 2-month ready-to-use 960 mg: secondary analysis of outcomes in adult patients with bipolar I disorder in a randomized, open-label, parallel-arm, pivotal study.
Aripiprazole 2-month ready-to-use 960 mg (Ari 2MRTU 960) is a new long-acting injectable antipsychotic formulation for administration every 2 months. A 32-week trial evaluated the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of Ari 2MRTU 960 in clinically stable adults with schizophrenia or bipolar I disorder (BP-I) (per DSM-5 criteria). This secondary analysis evaluated the safety and efficacy of Ari 2MRTU 960 in the subpopulation of patients with BP-I. ⋯ Ari 2MRTU 960 was well tolerated in patients with BP-I, with efficacy similar to AOM 400.

Uric acid-lowering therapy with benzbromarone in hypertension with asymptomatic hyperuricemia: a randomized study focusing left ventricular diastolic function.
Both hypertension and hyperuricemia are closely associated with the morbidity and mortality of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, there is limited evidence on the effect of uric acid-lowering therapy on left ventricular (LV) diastolic function in this population. In this randomized study, we prescribed benzbromarone, a uric acid-lowering drug, to those with hypertension and asymptomatic hyperuricemia to investigate its clinical benefits by evaluating LV diastolic function, incidence of HFpEF and hospitalization for heart failure and cardiovascular death. ⋯ Our study demonstrated the efficiency of benzbromarone in hypertensive patients with concomitant asymptomatic hyperuricemia, including the benefits on ameliorating LV diastolic dysfunction as well as improving composite endpoints.

A randomized open label, parallel-group study to evaluate the hemodynamic effects of cafedrine/theodrenaline vs noradrenaline in the treatment of intraoperative hypotension after induction of general anesthesia: the 'HERO' study design and rationale.
Intraoperative arterial hypotension (IOH) is associated with poor patient outcome. This study aims to compare the hemodynamic effects of Cafedrine/Theodrenaline (C/T) and Noradrenaline (NA) for the treatment of hypotension in patients who develop IOH after anesthesia induction. ⋯ This clinical trial will yield evidence for marketing authorization of C/T applied as continuous infusion. Additionally, the effects of C/T compared to NA on cardiac index will be assessed. First results of the "HERO"-study are expected in 2024. DRKS identifier: DRKS00028589. A randomized clinical trial comparing three fixed combinations of bimatoprost with timolol in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
To compare the efficacy and safety of two fixed combination, preservative-free eye drops (bimatoprost 0.01% in combination with either timolol 0.1% or 0.5%) in a gel formulation, with bimatoprost 0.03%/timolol 0.5% in patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG) or ocular hypertension (OHT). ⋯ These study results suggest that the preservative-free ophthalmic formulation of T4030a (bimatoprost 0.01%/timolol 0.1%) can be regarded as a useful tool in the therapeutic management of OAG and OHT.
