To develop and validate the Asthma Severity-Health Search (AS-HScore), predicting severe asthma risk in Italian primary care. According to the current asthma treatment guidelines, the AS-HScore intended to serve as a clinical decision support system (CDSS) for General Practitioners (GPs). ⋯ The AS-HScore emerges as an accurate tool predicting severe asthma risk in the Italian primary care. It therefore shows promising application to enhance asthma care by early identification of severe cases. Implementing a score-based CDSS for Italian GPs holds potential for significantly improving asthma management and patients' outcomes.

To ensure effective patient engagement, patients' efforts, partnerships with healthcare professionals, and the organisation's role in providing safe healthcare settings must be emphasised. Perception gaps regarding patient engagement between the public and healthcare professionals could prevent healthy partnerships from forming and hinder patient engagement activities. This study examined healthcare professionals' perception of patient engagement and compared the findings with that determined for the public in a previous study. ⋯ The healthcare professionals' perception of patient engagement was more positive than that of the public. To narrow the perception gaps and enhance the public's perception, strategies involving changes in healthcare systems, promotional efforts, and educational initiatives should be developed. Additionally, strategies should be formulated for healthcare professionals to better engage as partners in patient care.

Patients with phenylketonuria (PKU) require a strict diet to maintain phenylalanine (Phe) levels within the desired range. However, the diet can be onerous, resulting in poor adherence. We carried out the first online national survey in Italy to better understand the perceptions, knowledge, and experiences of both patients with PKU and caregivers with the goal of improving patient outcomes. ⋯ Our data showed that patients with PKU and their caregivers reported difficulties in adherence to diet therapy and indicated interest in new therapeutic approaches. Apparent differences between patient and caregiver perspectives were identified. More informational resources on PKU are needed.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) has become a common childhood disease that affects a large number of children worldwide and has become a chronic skin disease that cause a huge economical and psychological damage to the whole family. Despite the use of steroids, immunosuppressants and various topical preparation, the prognosis is still poor. ⋯ From the review conducted, it was concluded that EO has a huge potential in managing AD and can be used as complimentary therapeutic agents in AD treatment. Scientists and industries should venture into commercialising more topical products with EO to help manage AD more effectively.

During the initial staging of certain lymphoma subtypes, 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography ([18F]FDG-PET/CT) has become an alternative to bone marrow biopsy (BMB) for detecting bone marrow (BM) involvement. However, whether [18F]FDG-PET/CT can accurately detect BM involvement in angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) remains unknown. Our study aimed to assess the diagnostic and prognostic capability of [18F]FDG-PET/CT for detecting BM involvement in AITL. Methods: This retrospective study included 84 individuals newly diagnosed with AITL who underwent baseline BMB and [18F]FDG-PET/CT. "BM involvement" was defined as one or both of the following: 1) angioimmunoblastic T-cells detected in the BM; or 2) initially heightened focal uptake having disappeared on follow-up [18F]FDG-PET/CT. The ability of [18F]FDG-PET/CT to detect BM cancerous lesions was respectively analyzed by BM involvement confirmed by BMB or the aforementioned definition as the reference standard. The patients' clinical characteristics and survival and prognostic outcomes were respectively analyzed. ⋯ In AITL patients, PET/BM-positive results may obviate the necessity for repeat BMB to ascertain confirm BM involvement. PET/BM-negative results do not definitively exclude BM involvement. The combined use of [18F]FDG-PET/CT and BMB can increase the diagnostic accuracy of BM involvement for AITL patients.
