Psychometric evaluation of the Worst Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), Atopic Dermatitis Symptom Scale (ADerm-SS), and Atopic Dermatitis Impact Scale (ADerm-IS).
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by pruritus, skin pain, and sleep impacts, which are only reportable by patients themselves. The goal of this research is to evaluate the reliability, validity, and interpretability of the scores from three patient-reported outcome measures within the context of a clinical trial for adolescents and adults with moderate to severe AD. ⋯ These results provide evidence that the scores produced by the Worst Pruritus NRS, ADerm-SS, and ADerm-IS are reliable and construct-valid when completed by adults and adolescents with moderate to severe AD in a clinical trial setting. The results presented here expand upon the previous qualitative evidence of these tools and provide further support for their use in future clinical studies. While results are specific to clinical trials, next steps would be to evaluate the use of these questionnaires in clinical practice. This can provide clinicians and dermatologists a window into the patient's disease experience outside of the clinic, aid in shared decision making, and support a patient-centric approach to management of moderate to severe AD.

This study aimed to critically assess existing risk prediction models for postoperative mortality in older individuals with hip fractures, with the objective of offering substantive insights for their clinical application. ⋯ Subsequent research endeavors should adopt more stringent experimental designs and employ advanced statistical methodologies in the construction of risk prediction models. Moreover, large-scale external validation studies are warranted to rigorously assess the generalizability and clinical utility of existing models, thereby enhancing their relevance as valuable clinical references.

The clinicopathological factors indicating risk of recurrence are used to guide the choice of perioperative therapy in patients with breast cancer. Although several risk factors for recurrence have been reported in patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) early breast cancer in Japan, there has been no systematic review quantifying potential risk factors. ⋯ Identified risk factors were consistent with the previous reports, and this study provides quantitative summary of risk factors for HR+/HER2- early breast cancer recurrence in Japan. The treatment landscape for the prevention of migraine has rapidly evolved in recent years with the advent of calcitonin gene-related peptide therapy, including erenumab. The objective of this study was to assess patient-reported treatment satisfaction among erenumab users. ⋯ Satisfaction was high among long-term erenumab users, indicating that those using erenumab for a longer duration are more satisfied. Furthermore, this study provided insights on the basic socio-demographics, disease characteristics, and health behaviors of erenumab users as well as their treatment patterns before switching to erenumab.

This narrative review aims to provide a clinical perspective on the potential role of co-crystal of tramadol-celecoxib (CTC) in the management of acute moderate-to-severe pain by synthesizing the available preclinical and clinical data, with emphasis on phase 3 trials. ⋯ Results from phase 3 trials suggest that the modified physicochemical properties of tramadol and celecoxib in CTC translate into an improved clinical benefit-risk profile, including fewer opioid-related adverse effects due to lower overall opioid dosing.
