To provide recommendations for overcoming the challenges associated with the generation and use of real-world evidence (RWE) in regulatory approvals, health technology assessments (HTAs), and reimbursement decision-making in East Asia. ⋯ We recommend approaches and initiatives that aim to drive improvements in the utilization of RWE in healthcare decision-making in East Asia and other regions. We encourage large-scale collaborations that leverage the full range of skills offered by different stakeholders. Government agencies, hospitals, research organizations, patient groups, and the pharmaceutical industry must collaborate to ensure appropriate access to robust and reliable real-world data and seek alignment on how to address prioritized evidence needs. Increasingly, we believe that this work will be conducted by multidisciplinary teams with expertise in healthcare research and delivery, data science, and information technology. We hope this work will encourage further discussion among all stakeholders seeking to shape the RWE landscape in East Asia and other regions and drive next-generation healthcare.

With the development of linnovative regulations on drug clinical trials in mainland China, the quantity and quality of drug clinical trials have gradually improved over the past decade. Based on the information of the clinical trials from the online drug clinical trial registration platform of National Medical Products Administration, we reviewed the data of drug clinical trials in mainland China from 2009 to 2020. A total of 8,593 clinical trials have been conducted during this period. ⋯ However, there were only 116 and 130 clinical trials of drugs for children and rare diseases respectively. The geographical distribution of the sites was uneven. This mapping review provides an overall look of clinical trials in China, which may be useful for domestic and international sponsors.

This systematic literature review (SLR) assessed the effects of endoscopic mucosal healing and histologic remission on clinical, quality-of-life (QoL), and economic outcomes in adults with ulcerative colitis (UC) in the real-world setting. ⋯ This SLR demonstrated consistent evidence of improved clinical outcomes among UC patients with endoscopic mucosal healing and histologic remission.

EGFR exon 20 insertion mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is rare, has a poor prognosis, and outcomes are not fully established. We describe and evaluate outcomes from real-world and clinical evidence in these patients. ⋯ Conventional treatments used in patients with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutation-positive NSCLC have limited efficacy, though chemotherapy appeared to be associated with better response and survival outcomes than non-exon 20 targeting EGFR-TKIs and IO agents. This supports the need to identify EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations as the availability of new targeted treatments may offer additional therapeutic options to these patients.

We conducted literature reviews to uncover differential effects of sex on sequelae from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and on long COVID syndrome. ⋯ Sex-disaggregated differences for COVID-19 sequelae and long COVID syndrome were observed. Few COVID-19 studies report sex-disaggregated data, underscoring the need for further sex-based research/reporting of COVID-19 disease.
