A deterioration in cognitive functions is characteristic of the ageing process and is one of the principle causes for disability in old age. It is possible that some of the neuropsychiatric alterations associated with old age may be due to certain subclinical vitamin deficiencies and, as such, may be corrected in some cases with adequate nutrition. This article presents a broad review of the various research efforts published on the subject.

Review Case Reports[Listeria monocytogenes infection in HIV patients: 2 new cases].
Two new cases of infection due to Listeria monocytogenes in two females with HIV are discussed, one of them with full blown AIDS and the other pregnant and without knowledge of her seropositivity until that moment. Its clinical manifestation as a meningeal manifestation and bacteremia, coincide with the few cases described until now; different hypothesis invoked until now are reviewed to justify this infrequent association HIV-Listeria.

Review Case Reports[Pulmonary thromboembolism with mobile thrombus in the right atrium. Presentation of a case diagnosed with bidimensional echocardiography and review of the literature].
A case is presented of a pulmonary thromboembolism secondary to detachment of an elongated and mobile thrombus in right atrium, identified by bidimensional echocardiography in a patient without previously identified cardiac pathology. The presence of pulmonary thromboembolism in this patient was confirmed by lung angiography. In-spite of anticoagulant treatment, the patient died four days later due to massive pulmonary embolism, before a surgery could be carried out, coinciding with the disappearance of the right atrium thrombus by bidimensional echocardiography. The echocardiographic characteristics of right atrium thromboembolisms are described as well as their differential diagnosis and the most appropriate therapeutic attitude in these cases based in a literature review.

Pancreas transplantation offers the possibility of preventing the development and progression of diabetic lesions by adequate control of hydrocarbon metabolism. Moreover, the diabetic patient is freed from dietary and physical restrictions, as well as from insulin treatment. However, this is achieved at the expense of an immunosuppression not always free of risk. ⋯ The introduction of cyclosporine has greatly improved the transplantation results, achieving a 53% actuarial survival of the graft per year. Out of the different technics used, the one that yields best results is the transplantation of the whole organ, deriving the exocrine secretion to the urinary bladder. This method also enables early diagnosis of graft rejection by monitoring urine amylase.
