Hospital case volume and clinical outcomes in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury treated with dialysis.
To determine whether patients with severe acute kidney injury who receive dialysis (AKI-D) experience better outcomes at centres that care for more patients with AKI-D. ⋯ There are no Centre volume survival associations in the management of AKI-D despite high mortality and dependence rate.

A feasibility study to assess pre-admission status and six month outcomes of major trauma patients admitted to an intensive care unit, using the WHO DAS 2.0.
To report the feasibility of assessing pre-admission functional status of ICU trauma patients, with repeat assessment at six months post ICU discharge using a standardised measure. ⋯ Standardised assessment of pre-admission function was feasible. Future research should investigate the clinical relevance of scores and the validity of the measure in trauma patients.

To determine predictors of inability to return to work due to health six-months after intensive care admission; and compare functional recovery between patients who had not returned to work and employed patients. ⋯ Major trauma, lower GCS and increased hospital length of stay predicted inability to return to work due to health at six-months post-ICU admission. Compared to employed patients, those who had not returned to work reported poorer functional recovery.

Development and feasibility of a smartphone-based test for the objective detection and monitoring of attention impairments in delirium in the ICU.
Delirium in the ICU is under-diagnosed. We evaluated feasibility and performance of a novel smartphone-based test for objectively detecting inattention in delirium. ⋯ DelApp-ICU shows promise for assessing inattention and delirium in ICU patients, including longitudinally monitoring deficits and providing a metric of delirium severity.

Comparative StudyHighly visible sepsis publications from 2012 to 2017: Analysis and comparison of altmetrics and bibliometrics.
We sought to delineate highly visible publications related to sepsis. Within these subsets, elements of altmetrics performance, including mentions on Twitter, and the correlation between altmetrics and conventional citation counts were ascertained. ⋯ While unreliable to gauge impact or future citation potential, altmetrics may be valuable for parties who wish to detect and drive public awareness of research findings and may enable researchers to dynamically explore the reach of their work in novel dimensions.
