Chronic constipation is a common childhood problem and often caused or worsened by abnormal dynamics of defecation. The aim of this study was to assess the benefit of pelvic floor physical therapy (PFPT), a novel treatment in pediatrics for the treatment of chronic constipation with dyssynergic defecation. ⋯ The new field of pediatric PFPT is a safe and effective intervention for children with dyssynergic defecation causing or contributing to chronic constipation, particularly in children whose comorbidities include anxiety and low -muscle tone.

Positive Response to Tolvaptan Treatment Would Be a Good Prognostic Factor for Cirrhotic Patients with Ascites.
Ascites is one of the major complications in advanced cirrhotic patients. Tolvaptan is a non-peptide orally available arginine vasopressin V2 receptor antagonist. We investigated and found that tolvaptan therapy improved the prognosis and predictive factor of cirrhotic patients with ascites. ⋯ Therapeutic response to tolvaptan was associated with longer survival in cirrhosis patients complicated with ascites. These preliminary findings warrant validation and further exploration.
