To estimate the efficacy and harm produced by droperidol in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). ⋯ Droperidol is anti-emetic in the surgical setting. The effect on nausea is short-lived but more pronounced than the effect on vomiting. Sedation and drowsiness are dose-dependent, extrapyramidal symptoms are rare, and there is a protective effect against headache.

To review the clinical benefits of dextromethorphan (DM) in pain management, describe its neuropharmacological properties. ⋯ DM attenuates acute pain sensation with tolerable side effects. Its availability in oral form bestow advantages over other NMDA antagonists.

To review the literature regarding epidural blood patch (EBP) to generate conclusions relating to the controversial issues surrounding its application. ⋯ Blood-patching is an effective treatment of PDPH but further research is required regarding its mechanisms and prophylaxis.
