Storybooks About Healthy Beverage Consumption: Effects in an Online Randomized Experiment With Parents.
Parents spend substantial time reading to their children, making storybooks a promising but understudied avenue for motivating parents to serve their children healthier beverages. This study examines parents' reactions to messages promoting healthy beverage consumption embedded in a children's storybook. ⋯ Embedding beverage messages in storybooks is a promising, scalable strategy for motivating parents from diverse backgrounds to serve children more water and fewer sugary drinks.

Couple-Based Physical Activity Planning for New Parents: A Randomized Trial.
The demands of parenthood may limit the pursuit of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA), establish inactivity patterns into middle age, and lead to long-term poorer health and well-being. The purpose of this study was to examine the efficacy of a couple-based planning skills intervention to support MVPA from baseline (~2 months after birth) up to 6 months later in first-time parents. ⋯ Mothers may be more responsive than fathers to MVPA interventions in early parenthood. Already active parents likely have little to be gained from additional intervention. Future research is needed to effectively promote MVPA during fatherhood and identify novel ways to sustain PA past the early response to an intervention.

Optimizing Texting Interventions for Melanoma Prevention and Early Detection: A Latin Square Crossover RCT.
Text messaging is an effective way to reach large populations with health promotion support. This study aims to establish the optimal text messaging intervention to achieve behavior change in young adults at risk of skin cancer. ⋯ Regular text messaging interventions result in significantly increased sun protection and decreased sunburn in young adults.

A Community Health Worker-Led Multicomponent Program to Promote Cervical Cancer Screening in South Asian Women: A Cluster RCT.
South Asian women in Hong Kong have low cervical cancer screening uptake because of multiple barriers to utilizing health resources. Interventions that effectively modify the cancer screening behaviors of this population are warranted. This study evaluates the effects of a community health worker-led multicomponent intervention on improving cervical cancer screening uptake among South Asian women in Hong Kong. ⋯ A community health worker-led multicomponent intervention is effective in promoting cervical cancer screening uptake and in reducing barriers to cancer screening utilization among South Asian women in Hong Kong. Combining a community health worker-led intervention with multiple intervention components could be an effective strategy for developing interventions to increase cervical cancer screening in underserved populations.

The Impact of a Lifestyle Intervention on Postpartum Weight Retention Among At-Risk Hispanic Women.
This study assesses the impact of a culturally modified, motivationally targeted, individually tailored intervention on postpartum weight retention among Hispanic women with abnormal glucose tolerance during pregnancy. ⋯ In this randomized trial among Hispanic women, no significant overall differences in weight change pattern between intervention arms were observed. Higher levels of self-reported physical activity were associated with greater weight loss in both arms.
