Randomized Controlled TrialThe role of adding metformin in insulin-resistant diabetic pregnant women: a randomized controlled trial.
The aim of the present study is to assess the impact of adding oral metformin to insulin therapy in pregnant women with insulin-resistant diabetes mellitus. ⋯ Adding metformin to insulin therapy in women with insulin-resistant diabetes mellitus with pregnancy seems to be effective in proper glycemic control in a considerable proportion of women, along with benefits of reduced hospital stay, reduced frequency of maternal hypoglycemia as well as reduced frequency of neonatal hypoglycemia, NICU admission and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.

Randomized Controlled TrialSuperficial incisional surgical site infection rate after cesarean section in obese women: a randomized controlled trial of subcuticular versus interrupted skin suturing.
To compare the superficial incisional surgical site infection (SSI) rate after cesarean section (CS) in obese women using subcuticular versus interrupted skin suturing. ⋯ Subcuticular skin closure during CS for non-diabetic obese women was significantly associated with better short-term cosmetic outcome, less skin closure time, yet, with slightly higher risk of superficial incisional SSI and significantly more postoperative pain.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparing the efficacy of intrauterine lidocaine and paracervical block in decreasing the pain associated with endometrial biopsy: a randomised trial.
Almost 50% of the patients experience moderate-to-severe pain during endometrial biopsy. The study aimed to examine the effectiveness of intrauterine lidocaine for relieving pain during endometrial biopsy. ⋯ Compared to paracervical block, intrauterine lidocaine may be the preferred anaesthesia for endometrial biopsy, and it does not cause any serious complications.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntraperitoneal bupivacaine for pain relief after minilaparoscopy in patients with infertility.
To evaluate the efficacy of intraperitoneal bupivacaine to reduce post operative pain after diagnostic minilaparoscopy in patients with infertility. ⋯ Post operative intraperitoneal bupivacaine administration is beneficial for patients undergoing diagnostic minilaparoscopy. It can significantly decrease post operative pain for up to 8 h and reduce the need for additional analgesics.
