Effect factors related to a high probability of hemodialysis independence in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients requiring hemodialysis.
Renal failure is a severe complication of symptomatic myeloma, related to higher mortality. Recovery from dialysis dependence can lead to enormous survival benefits. We investigated the effect factors for probability of dialysis independence. ⋯ Lower serum level of β2-microglobulin and lower level of free light chain at diagnosis, achieving at least VGPR, and shorter kidney disease history are related to a high probability of dialysis independence in NDMM patients with serious renal failure requiring dialysis.

Systemic immune-inflammation index, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio can predict clinical outcomes in patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer treated with nivolumab.
Explore markers to predict the clinical outcomes of checkpoint inhibitors have high unmet needs. The following study investigates whether hematologic parameter such as systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) is associated with nivolumab efficacy in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ The SII, NLR, and PLR are promising prognostic predictor for patients with metastatic NSCLC patients.

Serum KL-6 level is a prognostic marker in patients with anti-MDA5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis associated with interstitial lung disease.
This study aimed to investigate the clinical significance of Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) serum levels in patients with anti-MDA5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis (anti-MDA5+ DM) having interstitial lung disease (ILD), especially in the amyopathic DM phenotype. ⋯ The serum KL-6 levels may be a useful marker for predicting and monitoring ILD in Chinese patients with anti-MDA5+ DM, especially amyopathic DM phenotype.

Potential role of circulating long noncoding RNA MALAT1 in predicting disease risk, severity, and patients' survival in sepsis.
This study aimed to investigate the plasma long noncoding RNA metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (lncRNA MALAT1) expression with risk, severity, inflammation level, and prognosis in sepsis. ⋯ LncRNA MALAT1 could be developed as a potential biomarker for facilitating diagnosis and management in sepsis patients.
