Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyThe effects of elastic tubing-based resistance training compared with conventional resistance training in patients with moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a randomized clinical trial.
To investigate the effects of elastic tubing training compared with conventional resistance training on the improvement of functional exercise capacity, muscle strength, fat-free mass, and systemic inflammation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. ⋯ Elastic tubing training had a greater effect on functional exercise capacity than conventional resistance training. Both interventions were equally effective in improving muscle strength and quality of life.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyVirtual reality for upper extremity rehabilitation in early stroke: a pilot randomized controlled trial.
To investigate the effect of virtual reality (VR) rehabilitation on upper extremity motor performance of patients with early stroke. ⋯ Although additional VR training was not superior to conventional therapy alone, this study demonstrates the feasibility of VR training in early stroke.

Randomized Controlled TrialCombining physical training with transcranial direct current stimulation to improve gait in Parkinson's disease: a pilot randomized controlled study.
To improve gait and balance in patients with Parkinson's disease by combining anodal transcranial direct current stimulation with physical training. ⋯ Anodal transcranial direct current stimulation during physical training improves gait and balance in patients with Parkinson's disease. Power calculations revealed that 14 patients per treatment arm (α = 0.05; power = 0.8) are required for a definitive trial.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyThe effectiveness of a physical activity stimulation programme for children with cerebral palsy on social participation, self-perception and quality of life: a randomized controlled trial.
To determine the effects of a six-month physical activity stimulation programme on social participation, self-perception and quality of life in children with cerebral palsy. ⋯ The combination of counselling, home-based physiotherapy and fitness training was not effective in improving social participation in recreation and leisure, self-perception or quality of life, but did show a potential for improving social participation in domestic life over the longer term.

Randomized Controlled TrialTask-oriented exercises and early full weight-bearing contribute to improving disability after total hip replacement: a randomized controlled trial.
To evaluate the efficacy of an in-hospital programme based on task-oriented exercises associated with early full weight-bearing in patients with multiple comorbidities undergoing total hip replacement. ⋯ Task-oriented exercises associated with early full weight-bearing improve disability, pain, activities of daily living, and quality of life after total hip replacement.
