Randomized Controlled TrialMultidisciplinary rehabilitation after primary total knee arthroplasty: a randomized controlled study of its effects on functional capacity and quality of life.
To examine whether a multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme can improve functional recovery and quality of life and reduce the use of rehabilitation services compared with conventional care one year after total knee arthroplasty. ⋯ This study indicates that for knee osteoarthritis patients treated with primary total knee arthroplasty, a 10-day multidisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation programme 2-4 months after surgery does not yield faster attainment of functional recovery or improvement in quality of life than can be achieved with conventional care.

Randomized Controlled TrialLong-term effect of rehabilitation in coronary artery disease patients: randomized clinical trial of the impact of exercise volume.
To assess whether exercise volume during phase II rehabilitation affects long-term clinical benefits in patients with coronary artery disease. ⋯ In patients with coronary artery disease following cardiac rehabilitation, the cardiovascular disease risk profile worsened significantly during long-term follow-up. A smaller exercise volume during phase II rehabilitation generated equal long-term clinical benefits compared to a greater exercise volume.

Randomized Controlled TrialA multidisciplinary group programme in rural settings for community-dwelling chronic stroke survivors and their carers: a pilot randomized controlled trial.
To explore whether a group programme for community-dwelling chronic stroke survivors and their carers is feasible in rural settings; to measure the impact of the programme on health-related quality of life and functional performance; and to determine if any benefits gained are maintained. ⋯ This novel programme incorporating physical activity, education and social interaction proved feasible to undertake by a stroke-specific multidisciplinary team in three rural Australian settings. This programme may improve and maintain health-related quality of life and physical functioning for chronic stroke survivors and their carers and warrants further investigation.
