Randomized Controlled TrialThe effectiveness of 12 weeks of Pilates intervention on disability, pain and kinesiophobia in patients with chronic low back pain: a randomized controlled trial.
To assess the effectiveness of 12 weeks of Pilates practice on disability, pain and kinesiophobia in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain. ⋯ Pilates intervention in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain is effective in the management of disability, pain and kinesiophobia.

The interrelationships among pain interference, depressive symptoms, loneliness, and employment status: a moderated mediation study.
To explore the mediating effect of loneliness on the relationship between pain interference and depressive symptoms and to determine whether this mechanism is contingent on employment status. ⋯ Loneliness provides an important link in the relationship between depressive symptoms and pain interference. Furthermore, employment status is an important factor to consider, especially among individuals reporting disabling pain with comorbid depressive symptoms.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects and underlying mechanisms of unstable shoes on chronic low back pain: a randomized controlled trial.
To investigate the effects that wearing unstable shoes has on disability, trunk muscle activity, and lumbar spine range of motion (ROM) in patients with chronic lower back pain (CLBP). ⋯ This study shows that the use of unstable shoes contributes to improvements in disability, which are likely related to increased trunk muscle activity and lumbar spine ROM.

ReviewEffectiveness of myofascial release in treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain: a systematic review.
To evaluate the evidence on the effectiveness of myofascial release therapy to relieve chronic musculoskeletal pain and to improve joint mobility, functioning level, and quality of life in pain sufferers. Data sources and review: Randomized controlled trials were systematically gathered from CENTRAL, Medline, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, and PEDro databases. The methodological quality of articles was assessed according to the Cochrane Collaboration's domain-based framework. In addition, the effect sizes of main outcomes were calculated based on reported means and variances at baseline and in follow-up. ⋯ Current evidence on myofascial release therapy is not sufficient to warrant this treatment in chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Randomized Controlled TrialActive controlled motion in early rehabilitation improves outcome after ankle fractures: a randomized controlled trial.
To evaluate the use of active controlled motion (ACM) after unstable ankle fractures needing initial partial weight-bearing. ⋯ The use of ACM for patients needing initial partial weight-bearing after operatively treated unstable ankle fractures in the first six postoperative weeks leads to better clinical and functional results and an earlier return to work.
