To assess diet quality and its association with body and biochemical parameters in patients who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). ⋯ Poor diet quality was present before and six months after RYGB, and the study data suggest that poor diet quality is associated to a risk of loss of lean body mass and visceral protein six months after RYGB.

Orthognathic surgery is a complex orofacial surgery that can significantly impact occlusal function and effect nutritional and quality of life parameters. This study aimed to evaluate alterations in dietary intake, chewing function, physical activity, and oral health-related quality of life of patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. ⋯ The findings indicate a temporary decline in nutritional intake and chewing ability with subsequent recovery by the third month postsurgery. These changes, along with the trends in oral health-related quality of life, underscore the need for tailored nutritional and functional rehabilitation programs following orthognathic surgery.

Fluconazole (FLZ) is a drug widely used in the treatment of fungal infections including the treatment of immunocompromised patients, HIV-infected patients, and cancer patients. Critically ill patients often require the administration of drugs with parenteral nutrition (PN). The safety of this combination should be defined before the drug and PN are administered in one infusion line. This study aimed to determine the compatibility of FLZ with six selected multichamber bag parenteral nutrition. ⋯ Compatibility of the FLZ with six multichamber bag PN was confirmed. Hence, those preparations can be administered to patients in one infusion line using the Y-site.

Globally, adolescent students, particularly girls, are severely affected by malnutrition, in part because of their specific biological needs, and that they have not been considered a health and nutrition priority. Hence, this study was designed to evaluate the effect of a health belief model-based nutrition education on the dietary diversity and grades of adolescent school girls in the north Shewa zone, Oromia, Ethiopia. ⋯ In this study, the dietary diversity scores and grades of adolescent school girls in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group. Therefore, health belief model-based strategies should be recommended as effective communication channels to improve adolescent school girls' dietary diversity and academic performance.

This is a cross-sectional study, aimed to develop and cross-validate a fat-free mass (FFM) predictive equation using single-frequency bioelectrical impedance (BIA), considering the predicted age at peak height velocity (PHV) as a variable. Additionally, the study aims to test the FFM-BIA obtained using a previous predictive equation that used skeletal maturity as a variable. ⋯ Our results show that it is feasible to predict FFM in male adolescent athletes using predictive age at PHV, with moderate concordance. The calculation of FFM using more economical and less complex variables is viable and should be further explored.
