Dietary habits significantly affect health conditions and are closely related to the onset and progression of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Consequently, a well-balanced diet plays an important role in lessening the effects of various disorders, including NCDs. Several artificial intelligence recommendation systems have been developed to propose healthy and nutritious diets. Most of these systems use expert knowledge and guidelines to provide tailored diets and encourage healthier eating habits. However, new advances in large language models such as ChatGPT, with their ability to produce human-like responses, have led individuals to search for advice in several tasks, including diet recommendations. This study aimed to determine the ability of ChatGPT models to generate appropriate personalized meal plans for patients with obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and type 2 diabetes. ⋯ Additional supervision and guidance by nutrition experts or knowledge-based systems are required to ensure meal appropriateness for users with NCDs.

A feeding therapy developed in Brazil integrates aspects from diverse approaches and has increasingly been acknowledged as an adjunctive approach for addressing childhood feeding difficulties. In children, problems with eating are a common issue that affects their nutritional well-being, health, and overall quality of life, and can greatly hinder their social, emotional, and physical growth. In the realm of pediatrics, feeding therapy uses food and nutritional education, interactive games, and activities tailored to age groups and individualized treatment plans. ⋯ The effects of feeding therapy were evaluated according to the patient's feeding progression throughout the sessions and their stepwise progress in the eating hierarchy. Based on our observations, the findings of this study suggest that feeding therapy practiced in Brazil can be a viable treatment approach for addressing feeding difficulties within this population. The feeding therapy originated in Brazil stands out from traditional nutritional care with its nurturing and compassionate approach that prioritizes respect for the child.

The same microbial species isolated from blood simultaneously drawn from a central venous catheter hub and a peripheral vein (paired blood cultures) during parenteral nutrition may be assumed to represent the same strain. This case report provides an example of this assumption being incorrect along with a comparator example of it being correct. This has implications for interpretation of differential time to positivity and differential quantitative blood cultures during investigation of suspected intraluminal intravascular catheter or cannula bloodstream infection. ⋯ This case report indicates consideration should be given to reporting whether bacteria have been identified at either species or strain level if differential time to positivity or differential quantitative blood cultures are used to define catheter or cannula bloodstream infection.
