Randomized Controlled Trial
Epidural butorphanol-bupivacaine analgesia for postoperative pain relief after abdominal hysterectomy.
To determine the efficacy of epidural butorphanol with and without bupivacaine in providing postoperative analgesia following abdominal hysterectomy. ⋯ Addition of two mg of butorphanol to 0.125% of epidural bupivacaine resulted in rapid onset and longer duration of analgesia than did butorphanol alone.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Alfentanil is comparable to remifentanil in preventing withdrawal movement following rocuronium injection.
To evaluate and compare the efficacy and related side effects of alfentanil and remifentanil in preventing the withdrawal movement associated with rocuronium injection. ⋯ When administered 90 seconds before rocuronium injection, alfentanil showed a comparable effect to that of remifentanil in attenuating rocuronium-associated withdrawal movement, and a lower frequency of side effects such as cough.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Admixture of ephedrine to offset side effects of propofol: a randomized, controlled trial.
To determine whether adding ephedrine to propofol is as effective as adding lidocaine at reducing injection pain, and its effects on hemodynamics. ⋯ Adding 30 mg of ephedrine to 20 mL of 1% propofol is as effective as adding lidocaine in preventing injection pain, and it results in a more stable hemodynamic profile.

Is it possible to predict hypotension during onset of spinal anesthesia in elderly patients?
To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of various predictors of hypotension during onset of spinal anesthesia in elderly patients. ⋯ Only NIRS and BPV LF could significantly predict hypotension among the elderly.
