Use of sugammadex in patients with a history of pulmonary disease.
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sugammadex for reversal of rocuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade in patients with pulmonary disease. ⋯ Sugammadex 2 mg/kg and 4 mg/kg were well tolerated and effective in patients with a history of pulmonary disease. Bronchospasm is a possibility when administering sugammadex to patients with underlying pulmonary disease.

Laryngoscope plastic blades in scheduled general anesthesia patients: a comparative randomized study.
To compare two brands of disposable plastic laryngoscope blades, Vital View plastic blades and Heine XP plastic blades, with the reusable Heine Classic+ Macintosh metal blades. ⋯ Intubation may be more challenging when using Heine XP plastic blades but no significant difference exists between Vital-View plastic blades and Heine Classic+ metal blades.

Mask ventilation, hypocapnia, and seizure duration in electroconvulsive therapy.
To compare the Mapleson D circuit and the bag-valve-mask device for mask ventilation of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). ⋯ Hypocapnia was not associated with longer seizures, and the user-device interaction might affect device performance.

To evaluate the safety of intravenous (IV) fospropofol when used to provide minimal to moderate sedation in patients undergoing minor surgical procedures. ⋯ An initial dose of IV fospropofol 6.5 mg/kg with supplemental doses was safe and well-tolerated as moderate sedation for use in minor surgical procedures.

Parecoxib sodium administered over several days reduces pain after gynecologic surgery via laparotomy.
To assess the analgesic efficacy of a multidose, multiday regimen of intravenous (IV) parecoxib sodium (parecoxib). ⋯ Multidose parecoxib was well tolerated over several days and provided improved pain control after gynecologic surgery.
