The effect of tranexamic acid to reduce blood loss and transfusion on off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery: A systematic review and cumulative meta-analysis.
To assess the safety and efficacy of tranexamic acid (TA) on off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery. ⋯ TA reduced the probability of receiving a PRBCs and FFP transfusion during OPCAB surgery. And no association with postoperative death and thrombotic events was found. However, further trials with an appropriate sample size are required to confirm TA safety in OPCAB surgery.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) play a role in pain relief, especially in postoperative pain caused by inflammation. They have demonstrated significant opioid dose-sparing effects, which help in reducing postoperative effects and opioid side effects. The objective of this meta-analysis was to explore the role of NSAIDs in reducing postoperative pain at different time intervals and provide reference for medication after lumbar spine surgery by a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCT). ⋯ NSAIDs are effective in postoperative analgesia after lumbar spine surgery. The study type, NSAID dose, different surgery types, and analgesic type might influence the efficacy of NSAIDs.

Prevention of atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery using low-dose landiolol: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with mortality after cardiac surgery. Several studies have reported that landiolol might help to prevent postoperative AF. The objective of this study was to investigate whether low-dose landiolol is useful in terms of balance of benefit and risk. ⋯ Our systematic review revealed that low-dose landiolol might help to prevent AF after cardiac surgery and further large trials are needed to evaluate safety because mortality and morbidity rate were very low in included studies.

Programmed intermittent peripheral nerve local anesthetic bolus compared with continuous infusions for postoperative analgesia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The role of the programmed intermittent bolus (PIB) technique for infusion of local anesthetics in continuous peripheral nerve blockade (CPNB) remains to be elucidated. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on PIB versus continuous infusion for CPNB have demonstrated conflicting results and no systematic review or meta-analysis currently exists. We aimed to delineate via systematic review with meta-analysis if there is any analgesic benefit to performing PIB versus continuous infusion for CPNB. ⋯ The existing evidence demonstrates that PIB does not meaningfully reduce VAS pain scores in CPNB. This systematic review provides important information about the limitations of existing studies. Future studies should reflect contemporary practice and focus on more painful operations.

Comparison of LMA Supreme™ with i-gel™ and LMA ProSeal™ in children for airway management during general anaesthesia: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
A few randomized trials have compared LMA Supreme™ with LMA ProSeal™ and i-gel™ in children but their conclusions varied widely. This systematic review and meta analysis has compared the former device with the latter two devices. ⋯ We suggest that LMA Supreme™ may be an alternative to LMA ProSeal™ and i-gel™ in children for airway management during general anaesthesia.
