Pulmonary hypertension (PH) can complicate the course of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Echocardiography is a useful noninvasive screening test for PH in populations at risk. We aimed to investigate the echocardiographic evidence of PH and clinical characteristics of patients with MPNs. ⋯ Our results suggest that patients with myelofibrosis are more likely to develop PH than other MPNs patients. Disease duration may predict the development of PH in MPN patients.

Acute kidney injury (AKI), which is prevalent in ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who have undergone primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), is associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes. As high pulse pressure (PP) is associated with adverse cardiovascular events, the present study's aim was to evaluate the relationship between fractional PP (PPf) and AKI in patients with STEMI who underwent primary PCI. ⋯ Invasively measured PPf, which can be easily measured and has no additional cost in STEMI patients undergoing coronary intervention, is an independent predictor of AKI. In addition, PPf is superior to other blood pressure values and derivatives in AKI prediction.

Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D Levels in Patients with Autoimmune Hypothyroidism and Their Correlation with Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies.
This study was designed to investigate the vitamin D (vit-D) and vitamin B12 (vit-B12) levels and their correlation with anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) antibodies in patients with autoimmune hypothyroidism. ⋯ In patients with autoimmune hypothyroidism, vit-D and vit-B12 deficiency should be investigated at the time of diagnosis and periodically on follow-ups.

We aimed to share our observations on the demographics, clinical characteristics, and outcomes of lymphonodular hyperplasia (LNH) in children. ⋯ LNH is a common finding in pediatric colonoscopies with a variety of etiologies ranging from FH and familial Mediterranean fever to immunodeficiency.

To investigate the changes of serum cystatin C (Cys-C), beta 2-microglobulin (β2-MG), urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and alpha 1-microglobulin (α1-MG) in asphyxiated neonates, and to evaluate the value of combined detection of multiple biomarkers in the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) in asphyxiated neonates. ⋯ Serum Cys-C, β2-MG, urine NGAL, and α1-MG are early specific indicators for the diagnosis of renal injury after neonatal asphyxia. Combined detection of these parameters could aid clinical evaluation of renal injury in asphyxiated neonates.
