In this retrospective single institution study, we investigated the clinicopathologic features and treatment characteristics of 90 patients with congenital corneal opacities (CCO) (117 eyes) who were 3 years and younger and treated at our hospital. ⋯ Our study demonstrates that CCO has varied manifestations in infants and young children in China. A thorough medical history, careful clinical examination, and the use of accessory examinations such as ultrasound biomicroscopy are critical for the accurate diagnosis and classification of CCO and to provide guidance on therapeutic choices.

The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence of presenteeism in patients with communicable diseases in Poland. ⋯ The prevalence of presenteeism in the case of communicable diseases in Poland is lower than in the general population. However, as the refusals to take sick leave took place in the case of potentially contagious diseases, the negative impact on productivity may be significant.

Pecha Kucha with Part-Task Training Improves Airway Management in Fresh Frozen Cadavers: A Case-Control Observational Study.
The objective of this study was to ascertain whether the addition of part-task training as a step in Pecha Kucha for fiberoptic tracheal intubation increases the success rate and reduces the complication rate. ⋯ In addition to the Pecha Kucha method in fiberoptic intubation training, simulation-based part-task training appears to increase the success rate and to reduce the complication rate on fresh frozen cadavers.

To investigate the changes of serum cystatin C (Cys-C), beta 2-microglobulin (β2-MG), urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and alpha 1-microglobulin (α1-MG) in asphyxiated neonates, and to evaluate the value of combined detection of multiple biomarkers in the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) in asphyxiated neonates. ⋯ Serum Cys-C, β2-MG, urine NGAL, and α1-MG are early specific indicators for the diagnosis of renal injury after neonatal asphyxia. Combined detection of these parameters could aid clinical evaluation of renal injury in asphyxiated neonates.

Lung cancer is the main cause of cancer--related deaths worldwide, and the overall 5-year survival rate of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remained low. -MicroRNAs had been confirmed to be an important regulator in tumor progression, and they could serve as either tumor promoters or suppressors in NSCLC. ⋯ Our findings suggest that miR-421 might be a promising prognostic and therapeutic target for NSCLC.
