To contrast the costs of conventional and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) methods in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of mild hypertensive patients. ⋯ ABPM can be accepted as an useful clinical tool for the screening of patients with conventional diagnosis of mild hypertension. On the one hand, ABPM allows to select patients with low cardiovascular risk (WCH). On the other hand, the savings resulting from treatment reduction and fewer physician visits are higher than the additional costs of ABPM recordings.

To validate the Spanish version of the Pediatric Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol (PAEP). ⋯ PAEP has a high reliability, moderate validity and good predictive value face to clinical judgment, and it is a useful instrument for assessing the inappropriate utilization of pediatric hospitalization.

[The libraries of the public hospitals in Spain. An economic analysis. The Research Group on Libraries].
The continuous increase in scientific knowledge in the health field, the development of new technologies and the rising cost of publications means that libraries are essential for patient care, medical education and research. In Spain some deficiencies have been seen in hospital libraries, and their cost is unknown. ⋯ The cost of hospital libraries represents only a small fraction of public spending on health. Correction of the observed deficiencies and the importance of libraries in the health system would require increasing spending to about 0.1% of public spending on health.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study
[Patient satisfaction survey in emergency departments in acute care hospitals].
To describe patient satisfaction with emergency care of different hospitals. ⋯ This survey detect significant differences among all the centers in the study. Waiting time area showed the greater differences among them. Also the worst qualifications, followed by information to patient. Patient satisfaction questionnaires may work as aid in detecting health care problems.
