Meta AnalysisAssociation between intraoperative oliguria and postoperative acute kidney injury in non-cardiac surgical patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the association between intraoperative oliguria and the risk of postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. ⋯ This study demonstrated a significant association between intraoperative oliguria and the risk of postoperative AKI, regardless of the definitions of oliguria or AKI used. Further prospective and multi-centre studies using standardised definitions of intraoperative oliguria are required to define the thresholds of oliguria and establish strategies to minimise the risk of AKI.

Randomized Controlled TrialModified thoracoabdominal nerve block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) vs local infiltration for pain management after laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery: a randomized study.
Modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) targets thoracoabdominal nerves. Our primary aim was to compare M-TAPA vs local infiltration on pain management in patients underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) surgery. ⋯ M-TAPA provides superior analgesia compared to LI in patients undergoing LC.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of a gastric tube insertion guide for insertion of a nasogastric tube: a prospective, randomized controlled clinical study.
We studied whether a newly available gastric tube insertion guide (Fuji Medical, Tokyo, Japan) was effective in insertion of a nasogastric tube. ⋯ We conclude that the gastric tube insertion guide (Fuji Medical, Tokyo, Japan) may be useful when the conventional method of insertion has failed.

Randomized Controlled TrialA comparative study on the efficacy and safety of propofol combined with different doses of alfentanil in gastroscopy: a randomized controlled trial.
Propofol can be used alone or in combination with opioids during gastroscopy. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of intravenous propofol and different doses of alfentanil in patients undergoing gastroscopy. ⋯ Intravenous 1.5 mg/kg propofol combined with 3 μg/kg alfentanil is more suitable for patients undergoing gastroscopy, and the dose of alfentanil can be reduced according to the patient's actual physical condition.

Observational StudyPersistent postoperative pain at 1 year after orthopedic surgery and its association with functional disability.
Orthopedic hip, knee, and spinal surgeries have a relatively high incidence of persistent postoperative pain, with the highest risk observed in Asian ethnicity. This study aimed to investigate the distribution of persistent pain at 1 year after surgery and its associated factors and effects on functional disability. ⋯ The mean score for persistent pain at 1 year after surgery on the numerical rating scale was 1.2. Worse preoperative bodily pain, higher preoperative serum CRP level, and spine and spinal cord surgeries increased the persistent pain score at 1 year after surgery, which was associated with functional disability CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: This prospective observational study was registered on the University Hospital Medical Information Network (31 December 2015; UMIN000021671).
