Multicenter Study Observational StudyThe frequency of postoperative BNP measurement and intervention threshold of BNP concentration in pediatric cardiac intensive care unit: a prospective multicenter observational study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of postoperative BNP measurement in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU). ⋯ High BNP concentration, especially more than 1000 pg/ml, was more often intervened upon compared to that of less than 1000 pg/ml.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyDrug-induced anaphylaxis during general anesthesia in 14 tertiary hospitals in Japan: a retrospective, multicenter, observational study.
Since perioperative anaphylaxis occurs suddenly, and it can be life-threatening, anesthesiologists need to have sufficient knowledge of the epidemiology of perioperative anaphylaxis and appropriate coping strategies to deal with it. Recent studies conducted in Western countries reported the characteristics of perioperative anaphylaxis in each country. However, there are few studies of perioperative anaphylaxis in Japan. ⋯ Time from drug administration to appearance of the first symptom was the longest in the cefazolin group. The incidence of canceled operation was the highest in the rocuronium group. Although it is unclear whether the results of this study can apply to Japan as a whole, the information about the agents responsible for perioperative anaphylaxis and the characteristics of anaphylaxis due to each agent would be helpful to anesthesiologists.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudySafety and efficacy of remimazolam in induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in high-risk surgical patients (ASA Class III): results of a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group comparative trial.
The ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine remimazolam, may be an acceptable alternative to propofol for induction and maintenance of anaesthesia in high-risk patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEfficacy and safety of remimazolam versus propofol for general anesthesia: a multicenter, single-blind, randomized, parallel-group, phase IIb/III trial.
This trial was conducted to confirm the non-inferiority of remimazolam versus propofol in the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in surgical patients. ⋯ This trial is registered with the Japan Pharmaceutical Information Center - Clinical Trials Information (JapicCTI). JapicCTI number: 121973.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyProcedural sedation and analgesia in the emergency department in Japan: interim analysis of multicenter prospective observational study.
Procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) is widely performed outside of the operating theater, often in emergency departments (EDs). The practice and safety of PSA in the ED in an aging society such as in Japan have not been well described. We aimed to characterize the practice pattern of PSA including indications, pharmacology and incidence of adverse events (AEs) in Japan. ⋯ In a multicenter prospective registry in Japan, PSA in the ED appears safe particularly since the patients who underwent PSA were older and had a higher risk profile compared to patients in previous studies in different countries.
