Graves' disease (GD) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease. The production of anti-thyrotropin receptor antibodies (TRAb) is associated with a loss of immune tolerance. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) is expressed on multiple immune cells. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between serum concentration/activity of DPP4 and the severity of hyperthyroidism in GD patients. ⋯ The GD patients had significantly increased serum concentration/activity of DPP4. And the serum concentration/activity of DPP4 was positively associated with the severity of hyperthyroidism in GD patients.Key messagesThe activity and concentration of DPP4 in patients with Graves' disease were higher than those in healthy controls.There was a significant positive correlation between serum DPP4 concentration and TRAb levels in patients with Graves' disease.In patients with Graves 'disease, serum DPP4 activity was positively correlated with TRAb levels.

Motor recovery following a stroke is related to the initial stroke severity and corticospinal tract integrity. One of the outcomes representing corticospinal tract integrity is the motor evoked potential (MEP). This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of MEP for motor recovery in patients with acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Among patients with moderate-to-severe ischemic stroke, MEP + patients had better motor recoveries (approximately 70%) than MEP- patients at 90 days post-stroke. MEP + patients had better functional outcomes than MEP- patients.

To investigate trajectories of recovery of motor arm function after stroke during inpatient rehabilitation. ⋯ We found unique patterns of arm recovery with distinct characteristics for each cluster. Better understanding of patterns of arm recovery can guide future models and intervention development.KEY MESSAGESArm recovery early after stroke follows four distinct trajectories that relate to time post stroke, initial stroke severity and baseline level of motor arm function.Identification of recovery patterns gives insight into the uniqueness of individual's recovery.This study offers a novel approach on which to build and develop future models of arm recovery.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are an important part of tumour microenvironment, but its role in immunotherapy of gastric cancer (GC) is still needed to further study. In this study, we firstly distinguish the GC related CAFs via single cell sequencing dataset. CAFs in deep layers of GC tissues gain more developmental potential. ⋯ Key messagesGlypican-3 (GPC3) is up-regulated in the CAFs subgroups of the advanced gastric cancer. Gastric cancer patients with GPC3high CAFs have lower response rate to PD-1 therapy. Targeting GPC3high CAFs sensitizing the PD-1 blockage therapy in gastric cancer.

It is unknown which features of unipolar atrial electrogram (U-AEGM) morphology are affected by ageing and whether age-related changes in U-AEGM morphology are equally distributed throughout the right and left atria. ⋯ Age-related remodeling particularly affects BB as indicated by the decreased amount of non-SP at this location in the elderly.Key MessagesAgeing preferentially affects the morphology of unipolar atrial electrograms recorded at Bachmann's bundle.At Bachmann's bundle, the proportion of short double-, long double- and fractionated potentials increase during ageing at the expense of a decrease in the proportion of single potentials, reflecting aggravation of abnormalities in conduction.The increase in abnormal unipolar atrial electrograms at Bachmann's bundle during ageing supports the concept that Bachmann's bundle may play an important role in development of age-related arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation.
