Influenza vaccine hesitancy and influencing factors among university students in China: a multicenter cross-sectional survey.
Highly mutable and contagious influenza poses a serious health threat to university students and their close contacts. Although annual influenza vaccination is an effective way to prevent influenza, influenza vaccination rates among Chinese university students are still low due to vaccine hesitancy. This study investigated Chinese university students' hesitancy to receive influenza vaccine and its influencing factors during the COVID-19 pandemics based on WHO's vaccine hesitancy matrix. ⋯ Medical staff are suggested to provide health education, improve doctor-patient communication and recommend vaccinations to university students to increase their risk perception and willingness to get an influenza vaccination. Collective vaccination strategies can be implemented to reduce the vaccine hesitancy for students.

Serotype distribution of Streptococcus pneumoniae and pneumococcal vaccine coverage in adults in Turkey between 2015 and 2018.
To evaluate the serotype distribution and antibiotic resistance in pneumococcal infections in adults and to provide a perspective regarding serotype coverage of both current and future pneumococcal vaccines. ⋯ The results revealed that novel PCV vaccines may provide improved coverage as compared with the currently available vaccine, PCV13. The significant antibiotic resistance rates imply the need to extend the serotype coverage of the vaccines. Continuing the surveillance in pneumococcal diseases is critical to explore the serotype distribution and incidence changes of IPD cases in the population and to inform policy makers to make necessary improvements in the national immunization programmes.Key messagesThis multicentre study demonstrated the most recent serotype distribution and antibiotic resistance in adult population in Turkey.Shifting from PCV13 to novel conjugated vaccines will significantly increase the coverage.Continuing the surveillance in pneumococcal diseases is critical to explore the serotype distribution changes and the incidence of cases with invasive pneumococcal disease in the population.

24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and cryptogenic ischemic stroke in young adults.
In young patients, up to 40% of ischemic strokes remain cryptogenic despite modern-day diagnostic work-up. There are limited data on blood pressure (BP) behavior in these patients. Thus, we aimed to compare ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) profiles between young patients with a recent cryptogenic ischemic stroke (CIS) and stroke-free controls. ⋯ Non-dipping patterns of BP were associated with CIS in the absence of a PFO but not in the absence of hypertension. This may reflect differing pathophysiology underlying CIS in patients with versus without a PFO. Due to limitations of the study, results regarding absolute ABP levels should be interpreted with caution.Key MessagesNocturnal non-dipping patterns of blood pressure were associated with cryptogenic ischemic stroke except in participants with a patent foramen ovale and in those without hypertension by any definition, which may indicate differing pathophysiology underlying cryptogenic ischemic stroke in patients with and without a patent foramen ovale. It might be reasonable to include ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in the diagnostic work-up for young patients with ischemic stroke to detect not only the absolute ambulatory blood pressure levels but also their blood pressure behavior.

Characteristic analysis of early gastric cancer after Helicobacter pylori eradication: a multicenter retrospective propensity score-matched study.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is recognized as a type I carcinogen in gastric cancer (GC). However, GC still occurs after H. pylori eradication, and its diagnosis is more complicated. This study aimed to summarize the characteristics of early GC (EGC) after H. pylori eradication to help accurately identify EGC and avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. ⋯ Our multicenter study revealed that EGC after H. pylori eradication was characterized by long-term PPI use, moderate mucosal atrophy, mucosal map-like redness, the mild activity of gastric mucosa, a higher proportion of HGIN cases, and lower levels of Ki-67.

Costs of psychotropics for outpatients with bipolar disorder in Japan; the MUSUBI 2016 survey.
Although the costs of bipolar disorder (BD) treatments are associated with local and universal factors, data from non-Western countries remain limited. The associations between clinical features and costs of outpatient pharmacotherapy have not been well characterize. To estimate the costs of outpatient BD treatments and their associations with clinical features in a Japanese population, we investigated with special reference to the costs of medicines constituted the bulk of the total healthcare expense and were steadily increasing. ⋯ The estimated annual costs for outpatient BD treatment in Japan were equivalent to those in OECD countries (except for the US) and higher than those in some Asian countries. The cost of psychotropic treatments was associated with individual characteristics and psychopathological conditions.Key MessagesPsychotropic treatment for an outpatient with bipolar disorder has a daily cost approximately JPY350.The annual outpatient treatment cost for bipolar disorder in Japan was estimated to 51.9 billion Japanese yen in 2016.Individual characteristics and psychopathological conditions affected the cost of drug treatment.
