Review
The association between morphological characteristics of paraspinal muscle and spinal disorders.
Spinal disorders affect millions of people worldwide, and can cause significant disability and pain. The paraspinal muscles, located on either side of the spinal column, play a crucial role in the movement, support, and stabilization of the spine. Many spinal disorders can affect paraspinal muscles, as evidenced by changes in their morphology, including hypertrophy, atrophy, and degeneration. ⋯ The findings of this review highlight the need for further research to better understand the relationship between the paraspinal muscles and spinal disorders, and to develop effective interventions to improve spinal health and reduce the burden of spinal disorders.

Medicine for chronic atrophic gastritis: a systematic review, meta- and network pharmacology analysis.
The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness and reliability of adding traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the clinical intervention and explore mechanisms of action for chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) through meta- and network pharmacology analysis (NPAs). ⋯ The results of a meta-analysis of 12 RCTs indicate that TCM intervention can improve the clinical treatment efficacy of CAG. NPAs identified seven hub TCM and 13 target genes associated with their actions, while bioinformatics analysis identified two DEGs between normal and CAG gastric tissues. Finally, molecular docking was employed to reveal the mechanism of action of the active molecules in TCM on the DEGs. These findings not only reveal the mechanisms of action of the active components of the TCMs, but also provide support for the development of new drugs, ultimately blocking the progression from chronic gastritis to gastric cancer.

The vascular and morphological features of tumors are important predictors of the nature, grade, and stage of various cancers. However, this association has not been tested in bladder cancer. The aim of our study was to investigate the correlation between the morphological characteristics of tumor vessels and the nature, stage and grade of bladder cancer. ⋯ Reticular vessels were an independent risk factor for high-grade bladder cancer. Thick branching vessels in bladder tumors, along with a wide base, were independent risk factors for the invasion of bladder cancer into the lamina propria. Primary diagnosis, lesion location (beside the left ureteral orifice) and obscure lesion boundaries were all identified as independent risk factors for muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Regional versus systemic dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to lidocaine for intravenous regional anaesthesia in healthy volunteers: a randomized crossover study.
Dexmedetomidine enhances the quality and duration of lidocaine intravenous regional anaesthesia (IVRA). However, the two administration routes have not been directly compared regarding effects on tourniquet tolerance time with lidocaine IVRA. Additionally, it remains unclear whether the prolonged tourniquet tolerance stems from the direct peripheral action of dexmedetomidine or indirect systemic analgesic effects. ⋯ The addition of regional dexmedetomidine to lidocaine prolonged tourniquet tolerance time in forearm IVRA to a greater extent compared to systemic dexmedetomidine in healthy volunteers.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is an organ-specific disease. Its pathogenesis has not been clearly studied yet; However, studies in recent years have shown that its pathogenesis is related to T helper cells. The pathogenesis of BP is mainly related to Th2 and Th17-related cytokines. ⋯ The serum concentrations of IL-17 and IL-23 are related to the prognosis of BP. In this paper, we focus on the role of related cytokines in the pathogenesis of bullous pemphigoid and the relationship between the related cytokine populations secreted by three major T helper cells-helper T lymphocytes 1 (Th1), Th2, and Th17. A better understanding of the biological and immunological functions of cytokines associated with BP patients will provide opportunities for therapeutic targets in BP.
