Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common after liver transplantation (LT). We developed a nomogram model to predict post-LT AKI. ⋯ The model based on combinations of clinical parameters and postoperative cystatin C levels had a higher predictive performance for post-LT AKI than the model based on clinical parameters or postoperative cystatin C level alone. Additionally, we developed an easy-to-use nomogram based on the final model, which could aid in the early detection of AKI and improve the prognosis of patients after LT.

To estimate healthcare resource use and direct healthcare costs of Transthyretin Amyloid Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) in Sweden over 12 months across severity stages as defined by the New York Heart Association (NYHA). Secondary to investigate the current diagnostic trajectory for patients with ATTR-CM in Sweden. ⋯ Advanced ATTR-CM stages are associated with significant healthcare costs, as patients more often require resource-intensive inpatient care. The current diagnostic trajectory of ATTR-CM in this study was characterized by a diagnostic delay of several years.

The selection and timing of anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG)-based immunosuppressive therapy (IST) or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in patients with transfusion-dependent non-severe aplastic anemia (TD-NSAA) pose significant clinical challenges. This study aims to compare the efficacy and long-term outcomes of the two treatments in TD-NSAA. ⋯ Prior treatment history, disease duration, and serum ferritin levels should be carefully weighed when making the choice between ATG-based IST and allo-HSCT for TD-NSAA.

Antiretroviral therapy-linked metabolic abnormalities have become a growing concern among people living with HIV. There is limited data regarding the effects of dolutegravir-based treatment on blood glucose levels and serum lipid profiles in people living with HIV in Ethiopia. Thus, this study aimed to assess blood glucose levels and serum lipid profiles among people living with HIV on dolutegravir-based versus efavirenz-based therapy. ⋯ Efavirenz-based therapy resulted in higher mean values of total cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein as compared with dolutegravir-based therapy. It is important to consider and evaluate high-density lipoprotein levels in HIV patients on dolutegravir-based therapy, and total cholesterol levels in people living with HIV on efavirenz-based therapy.

Academic research has highlighted the gendered impacts and amplifications of gender disparities of COVID-19. Traditionally, Pakistan is a patriarchal society, where it is a parenthood norm to socialize specific gender social roles. ⋯ For theoretical explanation, the current study used social role theory that argues that each gender benefits differently from distinct coping behaviours. The findings highlighted that women were more likely to adopt most coping strategies, with the most significant difference in religious-spiritual coping and preventative coping strategies even in the presence of control variables such as level of education, household monthly income, family structure, marital status and family size. There was no gender difference in adopting non-constructive strategies. The empirical evidence suggested that females might be at an increased risk of stress due to the burden of unbalanced household-based social norms and care responsibilities. The current research also expanded the base of coping to religious-spiritual coping, emotion-focused coping and non-constructive coping.
