Bright light therapy (BLT) is widely used for treating Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). However, the neural mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of BLT remain largely unexplored. The present study used a diurnal rodent (Nile grass rats; Arvicanthis niloticus) to test the hypothesis that the therapeutic effects of BLT could be, in part, due to reduced neuroinflammation and/or enhanced neuroplasticity. Our previous research has demonstrated that compared to grass rats housed in a summer-like daytime bright light condition (1000 lux), those housed in a winter-like daytime dim light condition (50 lux) showed increased depression- and anxiety-like behaviours, as well as impaired sociosexual behaviours and spatial memory, similar to what is observed in patients suffering from SAD. ⋯ These results indicate that the therapeutic effects of BLT on sleep, mood, and cognition may be attributed in part to mechanisms involving neuroinflammation and neuroplasticity in corticolimbic brain regions. Moreover, these effects appear to vary between sexes.

This study aimed to clarify the effectiveness and safety of two different infusion durations of cyclophosphamide (CTX) plus granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) for peripheral blood stem cell mobilization in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). ⋯ For patients with NDMM, 24-h continuous infusion of CTX plus G-CSF contributes to improved mobilization efficiency and equivalent toxicity as a stem cell mobilization regimen.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) could entrap tumour cells and promote their dissemination and metastasis. Further analysis of NETs-related molecules is expected to provide a new strategy for prognosis prediction and treatment of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients. ⋯ In conclusion, this model is a new and effective prognostic and efficacy predictive biomarker, FAM66C plays an oncogene role in the process of LUAD development. It may provide a new theoretical basis for the clinical diagnosis and treatment in LUAD patients in early stage.

To investigate the clinical features and long-term outcomes of Chinese anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCAs)-associated vasculitis (AAV) patients with different ANCA serotypes. ⋯ The likelihood of induced remission, patient survival or disease recurrence is all unaffected by ANCA serotypes. A better prognosis is seen in younger patients with milder kidney involvement and lower BVAS/FFS scores.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a disorder of hip development that leads to dysplasia, subluxation, or total hip dislocation. Early detection of DDH is important, and early initiation of abduction treatment is key to successful correction of the hip joint. However, mild forms of DDH, including hip instability without complete dislocation, have good spontaneous healing potential, and a watchful waiting strategy in mild DDH has been found to be safe. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the cost differences between different treatment strategies for DDH. ⋯ With correct patient selection, a watchful waiting strategy is cost-effective in treating mild developmental dysplasia of the hip, considering the high percentage of spontaneous recovery.
