The nomenclature of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) currently is blurred, indistinct and no accurate and haven't been properly updated since the first description, which is far from being suitable for the current implementation of clinical practise and scientific research of ALS, and urgently need an solution. Furthermore, the current diagnostic criteria need also further been improved, because the current clinical diagnosis of ALS majorly depends on the clinical manifestations yet. Up to now, no any objective clinical auxiliary examination can be helpful to diagnose ALS besides the electromyogram identifying the lower motor neuron damage, which isn't conducive to early diagnosis and prolongs the time of ALS confirmed diagnosis. In this mini review, we discussed the current doubt about the nomenclature and diagnostic criteria of ALS, and prospected in order to further improve and normalize the nomenclature and diagnosis of ALS.

Consumption of diets from sustainable sources is required for planetary health, however, large sections of the population, including females of reproductive age and children, will be at risk of not meeting their micronutrient (MN) requirements in a complete transition to plant-based foods. Constrained diet optimization methods use mathematical programming to construct diets that meet predefined parameters and may contribute towards modelling dietary solutions that meet nutritional and planetary targets. ⋯ Dietary modelling using diet optimization can be useful in the design of more sustainable diets that meet MN requirements, however, translation of outcomes into dietary intervention studies is required to test real-world application and adoption into dietary guidelines.

Pain, function and peritendinous effusion improvement after dry needling in patients with long head of biceps brachii tendinopathy: a single-blind randomized clinical trial.
Long head of biceps brachii tendinopathy, a frequent source of anterior shoulder pain, may lead to discomfort and diminished function. The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of dry needling and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in these patients. ⋯ Dry needling showed non-inferior results to transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in reducing pain and disability and demonstrated even superior results in reducing biceps peritendinous effusion (see Graphical Abstract).

The clinical efficacy of cancer treatment protocols remains unsatisfactory; however, the emergence of ferroptosis-driven therapy strategies has renewed hope for tumor treatment, owing to their remarkable tumor suppression effects. Biologically based small-molecule inducers are used in conventional method to induce ferroptosis. Nevertheless, some molecular drugs have limited solubility, poor ability to target cells, and fast metabolism, which hinder their ability to induce ferroptosis over a prolonged period. Fortunately, further investigations of ferroptosis and the development of nanotechnology have demonstrated that nanoparticles (NPs) are more efficient in inducing ferroptosis than drugs alone, which opens up new perspectives for cancer therapy. ⋯ The insights gained from this review can provide ideas for the development of original NPs and nanodelivery systems, pave the way for related nanomaterials application in clinical cancer therapy, and advance the application and development of nanotechnology in the medical field.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a severe complication of diabetes mellitus, causing a substantive threat to the public, which receives global concern. However, there are limited drugs targeting the treatment of DN. Owing to this, it is highly crucial to investigate the pathogenesis and potential therapeutic targets of DN. ⋯ A primary mechanism of ferroptosis is associated with iron metabolism, lipid metabolism, and the accumulation of ROS. Recently, many studies testified to the significance of ferroptosis in kidney tissue under diabetic conditions and explored the drugs targeting ferroptosis in DN therapy. Our review summarized the most current studies between ferroptosis and DN, along with investigating the significant processes of ferroptosis in different kidney cells, providing a novel target treatment option for DN.
