The findings of the last decade suggest a complex link between inflammatory cells, coagulation, and the activation of platelets and their synergistic interaction to promote venous thrombosis. Inflammation is present throughout the process of venous thrombosis, and various metabolic pathways of erythrocytes, endothelial cells, and immune cells involved in venous thrombosis, including glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, homocysteine metabolism, and oxidative stress, are associated with inflammation. ⋯ We also explore the great potential of anti-inflammatory strategies targeting venous thrombosis and the complex link between anti-inflammation and metabolism. Furthermore, we suggest how we can use our existing knowledge to reduce the risk of venous thrombosis.

The clinical efficacy of cancer treatment protocols remains unsatisfactory; however, the emergence of ferroptosis-driven therapy strategies has renewed hope for tumor treatment, owing to their remarkable tumor suppression effects. Biologically based small-molecule inducers are used in conventional method to induce ferroptosis. Nevertheless, some molecular drugs have limited solubility, poor ability to target cells, and fast metabolism, which hinder their ability to induce ferroptosis over a prolonged period. Fortunately, further investigations of ferroptosis and the development of nanotechnology have demonstrated that nanoparticles (NPs) are more efficient in inducing ferroptosis than drugs alone, which opens up new perspectives for cancer therapy. ⋯ The insights gained from this review can provide ideas for the development of original NPs and nanodelivery systems, pave the way for related nanomaterials application in clinical cancer therapy, and advance the application and development of nanotechnology in the medical field.

Pathological mechanisms and related markers of steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a refractory orthopedic disease with a high disability rate. Long-term administration of steroids is the most common pathogenic factor for non-traumatic ONFH. Early diagnosis of steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH) is difficult and mainly depends on imaging. ⋯ The pathological mechanisms of SONFH are complex. The related markers mentioned in the current review can predict the occurrence and progression of SONFH, which will help provide effective early clinical prevention and treatment strategies for SONFH.

Methodology for the selection and evaluation of outcomes for Chinese herbal injection in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD): a comprehensive study.
To develop a comprehensive framework for selecting outcomes in evaluating the clinical efficacy of Chinese herbal injections and to scientifically select outcomes for the clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Tan-Re-Qing injection intervening AECOPD. ⋯ The findings contribute to developing a robust and reliable trial design for Tan-Re-Qing injection in AECOPD. The methodology employed in this study ensures a systematic and comprehensive approach to the selection of outcomes for the clinical evaluation of future studies in this field.

Ice hockey is a popular global sport with growing participation for boys and girls yet remains a high-risk sport for injury. While the evidence for some risk factors, such as bodychecking policy is well established, other risk factors such as player sex have been understudied. The objectives of this study were to examine factors associated with rates of game-related injury, game-related injury resulting in >7 days of time-loss, and practice-related injury in youth ice hockey. ⋯ Based on data from a large 5-year Canadian youth ice hockey longitudinal cohort, several factors associated with injury were identified. Future injury prevention strategies should consider age, sex, previous concussion and injury history, and body checking leagues. Future research in female youth ice hockey including female-only leagues should be a priority to inform prevention strategies in this understudied population.
