Prediction of severity and outcomes of colon ischaemia using a novel prognostic model: a clinical multicenter study.
To identify risk factors of disease severity and between mild and severe colon ischaemia (CI) patients and to improve clinical outcomes, this study aimed to explore a novel scoring model. ⋯ The novel prognostic model was established to predict CI severity and clinical outcomes efficiently.Key messagesIn this article, we discuss the scoring model for clinical outcomes of colon ischaemia patients. In our study, the sensitivity and specificity of a novel scoring model are very high. Thus, laboratory tests (CRP albumin ratio), Oakland score, and histopathological findings (fibrin thrombi) can be assessed efficiently for colon ischaemia outcomes.

Long-term outcomes after coronary artery bypass surgery in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
To investigate the long-term outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). ⋯ RA is independently associated with worse prognosis in coronary artery disease treated with CABG. Preoperative corticosteroid use and longer RA disease duration are additional risk factors for mortality.Key messagesPatients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have impaired long-term outcomes after coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).Glucocorticoid use before CABG and duration of RA are associated with higher mortality.Special attention should be paid in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in RA patients after CABG.

Hypertension is a risk factor for adverse outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019: a cohort study.
Comorbidities are commonly seen in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but the clinical implication is not yet well-delineated. We aim to characterize the prevalence and clinical implications of comorbidities in patients with COVID-19. ⋯ Hypertension is a common comorbidity in patients with COVID-19 and associated with adverse outcomes. KEY MESSAGES Hypertension was identified as the comorbidity associated with the prognosis of COVID-19 in this retrospective cohort. Patients with hypertension could experience an increased risk of the composite endpoint. Anti-hypertensive therapy did not affect patient outcomes.

Relationship of adverse events to quality of anticoagulation control in atrial fibrillation patients with diabetes: Real-world data from the FANTASIIA registry.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with diabetes (DM) have high risk of cardiovascular events. ⋯ AF Diabetic patients have higher comorbidities and poorer TTR than nondiabetic patients. Low TTR was associated with adverse events. The risk of cardiovascular outcomes was higher in DM patients, with independent association between DM and mortality risk.

Prognostic value of myocardial injury-related findings onresting electrocardiography for cardiovascular risk in the asymptomatic general population: The 12-year follow-up report from the Ansan-Ansung cohort.
Background: We investigated the predictive values of myocardial injury-related findings (MIFs) including ST-T wave abnormalities (STA) and pathologic Q waves (PQ) in electrocardiography for long-term cardiovascular outcomes in an asymptomatic general population. Methods: We observed 8444 subjects without cardiovascular diseases and related symptoms biennially over a 12-year period. Major cardiovascular adverse events (MACEs) were defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and stroke. ⋯ However, the addition of MIFs to the conventional risk estimators was of limited value in the prediction of MACEs. Key MessagesMyocardial injury-related findings including ST-T wave abnormalities and anterior pathologic Q waves in resting electrocardiography predict long-term cardiovascular outcomes in an asymptomatic low-risk population. However, ST-T wave abnormalities and anterior pathologic Q waves add only limited value to conventional cardiovascular risk estimators in the prediction of cardiovascular outcomes.
