The aim of this study was to describe trauma in children secondary to the use of wheeled recreational devices (WRDs). ⋯ WRDs contribute significantly to injuries sustained by children. A large proportion of these injuries may be preventable, suggesting that mandating the use of protective equipment in Queensland may be of great benefit.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised controlled trial of a mobile phone infant resuscitation guide.
The aim of this study was to develop a mobile phone resuscitation guide (MPRG) and to evaluate its use during simulated resuscitation of a mannequin. ⋯ We have shown that participants were more likely to call emergency services if they were using the MPRG. Further trials are needed to investigate the utility of mobile phone guides and whether or not they can reduce the time taken to contact emergency services as well as if they can sustain correct CPR sequence in an in-vivo setting.

Airway compromise in children with anterior neck burns: Beware the scalded child.
The aim of the study was to describe characteristics of children with anterior neck burns admitted to our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and to highlight potential airway complications associated with these injuries, especially in children with scalds. ⋯ These results demonstrate that subcutaneous and soft tissue oedema secondary to anterior neck burns may contribute to airway narrowing and compromise requiring intubation. When assessing children's airways, evolving oedema should be recognised and higher observation or early intubation considered regardless of the mechanism of injury.
