Multivariate ordered logistic regression analysis of the postoperative effect of symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus.
The postoperative effect of arthroscopy in the treatment of symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) varies greatly among individuals. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the factors affecting the postoperative outcomes of symptomatic DLM. ⋯ With the increase of BMI, work intensity, age of onset, duration of symptoms, and the severity of cartilage lesion, the postoperative results become worse. Moreover, female and meniscoplasty with repair are risk factors for the postoperative outcomes.

Stable clinical long term results after AMIC in the aligned knee.
The aim of this study was to report a long-term follow-up of patients treated with autologous matrix-induced chondrogenesis (AMIC) for full-thickness chondral and osteochondral defects of the femoral condyle or patella combined with the correction of lower limb malalignment or patellar tracking if indicated. ⋯ AMIC showed durable results in aligned knees. The favorable outcome was maintained after an average of 9 years when malalignment of the lower limb and patellar maltracking were corrected. Such data are particularly encouraging for young adult patients who may benefit from a procedure that circumvents early arthroplasty.

Functional outcome and complications after treatment of comminuted tibial fractures or deformities using Ilizarov bone transport: a single-center study at 15- to 30-year follow-up.
The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate long-term outcomes and complications of a single-center and single-surgeon patient series of isolated and comminuted tibial fractures with bone defects or tibial deformities treated by Ilizarov bone transport. ⋯ Ilizarov bone transport, even at a long follow-up period, proved to be an effective technique for both definitive treatment of comminuted tibial fractures with bone defects or tibial deformities. Although our functional outcomes were lower in patients with exposed fractures, they were in line with the literature, but not influenced by the EFT when properly managed. Most complications occurred during the first 3 years; however, they could also arise much later, even until almost 30 years.

Pros and cons of navigated versus conventional total knee arthroplasty-a retrospective analysis of over 2400 patients.
Because of the ongoing discussion of imageless navigation in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), its advantages and disadvantages were evaluated in a large patient cohort. ⋯ III. Retrospective cohort study.

Future burden of primary and revision hip arthroplasty in Germany: a socio-economic challenge.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) rates have increased dramatically in the recent decades worldwide, with Germany being one of the leading countries in the prevalence of THA. Simultaneously, a rising number of revision procedures is expected, which will put an enormous economic burden on future health care systems. ⋯ The present projections allow a quantification of the increasing economic burden that (revision) THA will place on the German health care system in the upcoming decades. This study may serve as a model for other countries with similar demographic development as the country-specific approach predicts a substantial increase in the number of these procedures. This highlights the need for appropriate financial and human resource management in the future.
