Two-year radiologic assessment of the Pinnacle cup-a migration analysis with EBRA.
The most common cause of failure in total hip arthroplasty (THA) is aseptic loosening. Uncemented cup migration analysis by EBRA (Einzel-Bild-Roentgen-Analyse) has shown to be a good predictive indicator for early implant failure if the cup migrates more than 1 milimeter (mm) within the first 2 years after surgery. In this study, we investigated the migration behaviour of an uncemented press-fit cup after 2 years follow-up. ⋯ In conclusion, the Pinnacle cup used in our study provides low mean migration at final follow-up. Based on the assumption of secondary stabilization, good long-term outcome of the Pinnacle cup can be expected.

Early post-operative oxford knee score and knee society score predict patient satisfaction 2 years after total knee arthroplasty.
There is poor correlation between functional outcomes and patient satisfaction following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We asked if early post-operative scores at 6 months or the pre- to post-operative change in scores are predictive of patient satisfaction 2 years after TKA. ⋯ III, retrospective cohort study.

Local infiltration analgesia with additional intraarticular catheter provide better pain relief compared to single-shot local infiltration analgesia in TKA.
Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) has been proven to be efficient in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, the effect of single-shot LIA is temporarily limited. The objective of this prospective trial was to investigate if the potential benefits resulting from LIA can be prolonged by a continuous intra-articular perfusion of LIA. The hypothesis of the present study was that the use of an additional continuous intra-articular perfusion delivering LIA would result in less pain and better function compared to single-shot LIA in the immediate post-operative period. ⋯ Level II.

Union rate, complication rate, and opioid usage after Vancouver B periprosthetic femur fractures: a comparison of fracture types.
Periprosthetic femur fractures are complex injuries that can be difficult to treat and recover from. With a growing number of total hip arthroplasties (THA) and revision arthroplasties being performed in an aging population, the incidence of these injuries is on the rise. Multiple studies exist detailing outcomes associated with periprosthetic femur fractures after THA, but no study has directly compared the post-operative course between fracture types as classified by the Vancouver classification system. This study compares the three Vancouver B fracture types to see if any type is associated with an increase in post-operative complications than others. ⋯ Prognostic level III.
