Total hip arthroplasty after periacetabular osteotomy versus primary total hip arthroplasty: a propensity-matched cohort study.
Controversy still exist regarding the outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) after periacetabular osteotomy (PAO). The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical and radiologic outcomes of THA after PAO with primary THA based on balanced baseline characteristics with propensity score matching. ⋯ This study demonstrated longer operative time and larger blood loss without difference in the postoperative clinical score or complications between THA after PAO and primary THA. Furthermore, THA after PAO provided larger cup size and superolaterally positioned cup center without difference in the cup inclination or anteversion comparing primary THA.

Infection and periprosthetic fracture are the leading causes of failure after aseptic revision total knee arthroplasty.
The purpose of this study was to clarify the medium to long term survival of aseptic revision total knee arthroplasty (RTKAs) and identify the common modes of failure following RTKAs. ⋯ PJI and periprosthetic fracture are the leading causes of re-revision surgery following aseptic revision TKA. Efforts to improve outcomes of aseptic revision TKA should focus on these areas, particularly prevention of PJI.

Modular knee arthrodesis secures limb, mobility, improves quality of life, and leads to high infection control in periprosthetic knee infection, when revision knee arthroplasty is not an option.
This study compared the outcome of knee arthrodesis versus hinged total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients suffering from periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). ⋯ Arthrodesis using a modular intramedullary nail is an alternative for limb salvage, pain reduction, and preservation of quality of life and everyday mobility, when revision TKA is not an option. This study presents the largest number of case, comparing the outcome after performing an arthrodesis versus hinged TKA after septic failed TKA.

Factors related to the early outcome of medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy: coronal limb alignment affects more than cartilage degeneration state.
This study aimed to identify possible factors influencing the early outcome after medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO). ⋯ Our result suggests that a sub-optimal correction of coronal limb alignment negatively affects the early outcome of MOWHTO. On the other hand, the effect of the degree of cartilage degeneration was not significant.
