Case ReportsSurgical treatment of a symptomatic os acromiale by arthroscopy-assisted double-button fixation: a case report.
We present the case of a symptomatic os acromiale in a 51-year-old female patient. Arthroscopy-assisted treatment was performed using a double-button fixation system and additional suture cerclage. The patient presented with complete radiographic bone union, pain relief, improved range of motion and did not require hardware removal at the 12-month follow-up. ⋯ The achievement of persistent consolidation between the two fragmented bone surfaces, without further need for hardware removal and improved clinical outcome, suggests that our minimally invasive technique is appropriate for this specific indication. To our knowledge, this technique has not been described in the literature yet.

Return to sports and short-term follow-up of 101 cases of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction using gracilis tendon autograft in children and adolescents.
An acute patellofemoral dislocation is the most common acute knee injury in children. Recent studies suggest up to 40% of immature patients may develop recurrent instability. MPFL reconstruction has become a mainstay for the treatment of patellofemoral instability. Aim of the recent study is to show our experiences of MPFL reconstruction in patellar instability in immature patients using a gracilis autograft in respect to return to sport, growth plate disorders and short-term results. ⋯ Anatomic MPFL reconstruction using gracilis tendon allograft tissue is a safe procedure in children and adolescents with low risk of recurrent instability.

The standardized exploration of the radial nerve during humeral shaft fixation reduces the incidence of iatrogenic palsy.
The purpose of this study is to determine if a standardized protocol for radial nerve handling during humeral shaft repair reduces the incidence of iatrogenic nerve palsy post operatively. ⋯ Level III.

Radiologic midterm results of cemented and uncemented glenoid components in primary osteoarthritis of the shoulder: a matched pair analysis.
Cemented all-polyethylene glenoid components are considered the gold standard in anatomic shoulder arthroplasty. New designs of cementless metal backed glenoid components showed promising early and midterm results. The aim of this matched-pair analysis was to compare the radiologic results of two cemented glenoid components and a cementless glenoid component in patients with primary osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Retrospective comperative treatment study Level III.

Full endoscopic anterior intrapelvic plate osteosynthesis: a cadaveric feasibility study.
In this investigation, it was assumed that it must be possible to visualize the intrapelvic aspect as accustomed by pelvic surgeons using the anterior intrapelvic (modified Stoppa) approach. Moreover, it was hypothesized, that plate mountings will not only be possible for the symphysis but also at the supra- and infrapectineal aspect as well as to the posterior column. Ten anonymized cadaveric specimens were included in this study. ⋯ This investigation demonstrated, that endoscopic anterior intrapelvic plate osteosynthesis was feasible in the majority of the cases in a series of ten cadaveric models. New instruments will be needed such as extra-long rasp elevators, ball-spikes as well as devices to hold and position plates and extra-long self-holding screwdrivers. With these, endoscopic pelvic surgery will likely be a realistic option for selected pelvic trauma cases in the future.
